Had a run in a gallardo superleggera. Twice!
I couldnt believe it! We started messing around through lanes; and when the road opened up, we took off again. this time we were next to eachother at about 70 mph. my foot slammed the gas the instant i heard that G. we got stuck for a second, and i pulled another car length and the G let go. Later as he cruises pass me, and he gives me the hang loose sign. In both outcomes, i pulled 1 car from around 70 to about 120mph. I'm still shocked 2 days later, cause the superleggera has 532hp and weighs only 3k lbs., but is an all-wheel drive. All i have to my car is k&n's and star lowering. I'm thinking the G didn't know how to drive(but both runs were the same outcome if side-by-side), or the E55's are underrated. I noticed the G shift a couple times(which i believe takes off a few tenth of a second between shifts), were i only shifted once.
If you have 500hp but you get 30% driveline loss, you are up against a case of diminishing returns. A lot of the Gallardo owners who start modding wind up converting them to RWD. You're lucky you didn't run into one of those.

I can totally see this happening, nice kill. At any given moment on the street its all about conditions, timing, being in the proper gear, driver skills, etc...
In a controlled enviro like a track, with equal drivers- things might be different. For the mag boy in me, what does the Super run in the quarter?
