Just Went at it with a 02 911 Turbo
Im on my way back home bout 30 mins ago and see this 911 Turbo turning off the HighWay out here in Chicago Burbs. I Finally catch up to him after about a mile or so pull up next to him not thinking he would wanna go but he pulled up next to me so i drop it in to second and both take off at about 45mph. I jumped on him for about 4 secs then bam he goes flying by me he was pulling hard second time around wasn't so bad but still pulled on me hard around 80 or so. We ended up getting to the light pretty cool guy rolled his window down and ended up telling me he had over 800hp not sure if that was to the wheel or not but it sounded like it had some work done. So after all that i turned off my way and was'nt so upset he was pretty well modded so not so upset. But its time to mod this thing up that can't be happening to me no more haha

Way to represent!! For reference, I ran a 996 turbo from 60-130 mph I walked him by approximately 2 car lengths.
On a side note, I also ran a well modded 996 turbo S. After the initial jump by the 55, he opened a can of woop *** on me so hard I thought my car was broken. Those things are fast!

. Yea, it stings at first... You should pull on a stock turbo. Kinda like this... (E55 gets late start too due to kickdown) I think this guy is on the forum too.

I find it hard to believe that from a roll the E55 will take a 996TT. Off the line, my E55 is quicker in the first 100 feet, but after that the 996TT sure feels a lot quicker. Never ran them.
Probably would be a drivers race at the drag strip.
My TT is an X50, so a little more power, but 444 in the 996 vs. 469 in the much heavier E55.
Don't get me wrong, I love both cars -- very different, both fun. Tend to pick the 996 on a nice day (convertible).

996's heavily modded are no joke. Their 3rd gear pull is insanely crazy on a modded 996. Have a friend (sleeper X) with a heavily modded one and lets just say vs my CL65 (stock) made look like if I was going in reverse.

2004 E55 AMG
I had a chance to pace with a ford GT and was really surprised by the E55. the guy started from about 50 while I was around 2 cars back and I didn't lose any ground up to around 120. then we both stop. my engine is bone stock and so was his. I think if we would have kept going he would have left me no question.
at higher speeds 140+ I think the turbo would win out P2W and aerodynamics. the tuna vs. the mako

ML430, Mini Cooper S and Porsche 911 Twin Turbo
problem is with 911 turbo's....
is they are very hard to launch well from a dig, esp the manuals - too much traction.
Once they're rolling in 2nd gear and up and the boost has come on they're vicious.
Having an auto slush box certainly helps in some cases.
However at the top end they have good aero dynamics which helps at 100MPH or so and above - ask me how I know ;-)
My turbo is only lightly modded and is probably only putting out 500HP or so at the crank - none the less I'd run any E55K AMG, esp from 60 or so to 180MPH
Bottom line the 911 isn't built for drag racing (imho) where the E55K is stronger initially off the line.

Wasn't my guy then, his is dark grey. I did an Evolution GT600 kit at 75 miles, he wanted more so I upgraded it to a GT740 kit when it had 2000 miles. Its dangerously fast.
