I'm resurrecting this thread because it's a little more than a year later and I'm back in the hunt for an E63 wagon Got one in Delaware I'm trying to see tomorrow.

Any others in the Mid Atlantic area?

I'm selling my 6spd manual Cayenne GTS. Great SUV, but I'm not happy driving an SUV unless it's my classic Suburban. I want another car daily driver.

wow...that says a lot about the E63 wagon, esp if you're not happy w/ GTS(which looked SWEET!), though supposedly the Cayenne's recently got lighter along w/ face lift.

There's something to be said for a truck that feel like a truck I totally hear you.

I can see why you want the E63 wagon...FAR faster than the GTS (as in a totally different league) and so much of a sleeper...g/luck w/ tomorrow's viewing, make sure to look for full service history, check the rear tires and if modded externally (rims etc) it's more likely to have been tweaked mechanically...

The GTS handles as well as most high end sports sedans. It pulls a ridiculous number on the skidpad and with the 6spd manual and PDCC, it's a rocket in the corners. Just a little down on power and you can't get around the fact that even with the air suspension all the way down, the truck is still pretty high.

The wagon I'm looking at is stock with a little factory warranty left on it. Hoping it checks out ok and the dealer is willing to deal (I'm cheap and have access to auction data ).

The dealer says I'm crazy with my offer...

What would you offer a dealer who has a 2007 E63 wagon P2 w/37k miles?

This is not a CPO car, it's at a Chevy dealer. They're asking $48k for it. I don't want to overpay, but I let one slip away last year because the dealer wouldn't budge.

Do you mind PM'ing me what you paid?

$43,500

I'm a noob when it comes to using the auction tools at Manheim.com, but I didn't come up with any support for their $48,000 price in what has sold in the last few months. Is there that much of a premium tied to the wagons?

Talked to them this morning, their internet price of $47,990 is what they're expecting to get for the car.

2006 E55 Wagon (RIP), 2019 E63S Wagon (Sold) 2023 AMG GT634S
IMO - They are asking CPO price for that car. You won't be able to extend the warranty, and that's higher mileage than "normal" for E55/E63

But.... here's the problem - is the car worth it - probably not. However, all you need is someone else looking for an AMG wagon on the east coast and you've got competition and it's a rare commodity. There are usually not too many for sale at any given time - so the next one might not be as stock, or may be out of warranty, or wrong color, etc - they are not like buses - if you miss one you can't just catch the next one....

If you plan to keep the car a couple of years - you'll get $4500 worth of smiles in that time....

You can tell that dealer that the price of 48k is too high and they are smoking something. Tell them you're prepared to complete the purchase if the price is 43k. The rationale is that the kbb trade value of that car is 41k. You know for a fact that dealers never purchase cars at kbb trave value. Unless they want to keep car with a very small niche market on their lot for the duration of winter, they should seriously consider your 43k offer.

RE: E63 Wagon

E63 wagons are rare. There aren't many to choose from. The Chevy dealer is probably smart enough to know that. Dealers are also holding out on price, because good used cars are scarce which makes it hard for them to replace a car after it's sold. If it's clean, optioned right, and in good shape I'd offer them $45K, half way between where you and they are. They should be able to make a little $$ at that price and do the sale. You can always get an aftermarket warranty. I've always done o.k. with KBB as a source to base an offer.

For what it's worth, I've seen CPO 07 E63 sedans go for well into the $50's this Summer, some with only a few options. Remember the MMR is wholesale that dealers pay, and it does not include condition reports or options.

Good luck, hope it works out.

You're right in that the E63 wagon is a very rare car, but the fact to the matter is that the E63 wagon is a high powered rear wheel drive car and Winter is coming. It all depends on whether or not the dealer is prepared to hold onto this vehicle for the duration of the whole winter. Wayne is located in MD, so his winters are like mine up in NYC. Rear wheel drive cars don't sell particularly well during the winter. So just think about how well High Powered rear wheel drive cars will sell?

I do agree with you in that someone will come and buy the E63 wagon, the only factor is whether or not the dealer is prepared to hold onto it this winter to see if they can get their price.

Wayne, the October 14 sales results for Manheim Pennsylvania had a 07 E63 for sale. The mileage and year is similar to the one you are looking at. I'm not sure of the condition or options, because I wasn't doing a detailed search, but this was the result of that sale.

2007 E63 AMG 8G 4DSN A PS PB AC 45,392 BLACK $34,800

So IMHO, your 43k offer is more than fair.

I don't think that they are prepared to hold it all winter. The salesman told me that they'd been burned on a couple of higher end vehicles recently. That's why they wouldn't take my Cayenne on trade (and save me tax $$$).

Thanks, Jeff. That's not the car, it only had 36,xxx miles when it sold at auction.

The dealer has contacted me several times since I told them we couldn't do a deal, so it seems that they are motivated to sell. Unsolicited, they emailed me an offer lower than their asking price by several thousand, so it's getting closer to my offer.

As you mentioned, another sticking point is the warranty situation. IIRC, the factory warranty is 4/50 on these cars. With an in service date in 2006, it's unlikely any of the factory warranty still exists, so I'll need to find a suitable aftermarket warranty to cover big expenses. Or take the money I'd spend on the warranty and hold it for repairs. Tough call. I have not owned a newer German ride/daily driver without a warranty.

Anyway, great discussion and thanks for the input everyone. I'm contacting the dealer again this morning to see if they will get even closer to my original offer so that we can ink the deal.

good luck.
i've had good luck when dealers have had cars for more than 60 days(their bosses will tell them to get it off the lot, even if at loss) so they can put money into another car that can make money. also, end of month is also good.

We agreed on a price and I should be picking up the car tomorrow. Thanks for all the input, can't wait to be driving my new (to me, anyway) wagon home.

RE: E63 Wagon

The car looks to be silver/ash? IMO THE best W211 color combo. Looks like you are getting a very nice car. Congrats.

It is silver/ash.

I had a 2006 E55 that was white/black. That was the perfect combo
