Please anyone don't take this post the wrong way, because I'm just trying to understand track results better and trust that the "track rats" around here can chime in to offer opinions and/or explanations.

If I'm reading everything right, TurboLu's E55 has:
LET 180mm pulley kit
80mm TB
K&N's
LET Tune
LET HSTC
LET Longtube headers w/ primary cat delete
Custom 3" dual exhaust
LET HE, CM30, and rear reservoir
Quaife LSD
M/T ET Street DRs
And a very competent driver, given the aforementioned track experience.

This has resulted in 11.395 @ 122.48 (so far)

How, then, to best reconcile this with another recent quote from LET:

So, all the extra stuff (and it's significant) only yields .015 in E/T and a couple MPH in trap? Or could it be way different DA? Track prep? Better driver? "Freak-of-nature" car for the lightly-modded one?

The law of diminishing returns can't be that severe, can it?

This could develop into another DA temp thread. So I wont go there. The only few things I can think of is. Some stock 55k's put down more HP's than others. And I mean like 30-40whp more on the same dyno. Its what I've seen.

Also once you start getting into the low 11's and your knocking on the 10 sec door you can pay alot of money on mods to start knocking of a simple 10th. I guess its the only reasons I can think of.

a converter isn't needed to cut that 60ft with those mods or da...just a good driver.

I think this is the same guy Prodigy was talking about in my 11.236 thread. Let me check. As I openly admit my driving skills are average at best and I've only been to the track 6 times. On my fifth time I hit 2 high 1.6's, not bad not great but still not far off from his 1.64. Mike, didn't you get better than that with a soft launch using the HSTC?

As far as long tubes go - I was at the track yesterday and there wasa guy with an E55 there. I have talked to him before and given him some tips. He told me that he got long tube headers from LET and his car ran the exact times I saw him do last time. Modding is about finding the right combination of go fast parts that for for your car and driving style, I think you found a GREAT combo.
Sorry LET for posting OT. I'll stop now and just watch from the sidelines...haha.

About the driver experience comment it means more than driving skills. Its about the set up on the car.Like tire pressure tire size stall speed I decide what I run on the car stupid stuff like that that makes the difference in the track time.Like if i get to the track this weekend you will all see the new time i hope to run.As for the record I have to wait for the colder weather like every body else does...My best 60ft to date is 1.60

Remeber, you will gain ET/60ft with a Stall converter but also drop some MPH in most cases. Hard to compare MPH to a car that may have ran taller tires and stock converter. When a car is already traction limited, a taller tire can do wonders at time.. I would pay more attention to the set up before doubting the MPH.. Your 60ft and bassn`s mph are both interesting to study.

Now if we just had some RACE weights on both your cars??????

It's all good my friend...

Actually, Lou has an average power E55. Nothing special about his car. In fact, we have a local customer that we installed a 172mm, Tune, CM30, and HE who put down higher numbers than Lou.

On that same note, we have another E55 who has a 172mm, LT Headers, Tune, CM30, and HE who also put down lower numbers than the above mentioned E55.

These cars vary in power....period.

You are correct, I"m running 265-40-18's M/T's. I'll be trying out the CCW/MT setup on Aug 7 to see how much 3/8 of a inch smaller tire will change things. I already have the top end so I'm willing to sacrifice mph if needed to pickup time on the 1st half. I think from here it's all about dialing in my setup to get into the 10's.

Turbolu, all joking aside, that was a nice run and I'm sure we'll be seeing some great times from you. Good luck with your quest.

Good idea. Switching to the CCW's will most likely cost you mph but hopefully it betters your 60' and drops the ET. Trap is cool but ET wins races In essence you are going to shorter gearing by going to a smaller tire. Vice versa with a taller tire. Do you currently shift into 4th before the 1/4 mile marker?

I'm hoping it works out and if it doesn't I'll have my other set on standby.

I currenty stay in 3rd gear and if that changes I might have my shift point bumped up a bit in 3rd.

yeah. i emailed wayne several times and he finally got back to me 2 weeks after the initial email was sent. i had my car at the dealer replacing OEM parts that could have been causing the driveabilty issues. they wanted to flash me to stock but i asked them not to do that.

master tech at the dealer told me that my tune "could use more work", i told him i had it dyno tuned twice. he suggested to try another tuner both him and the service manager said with things i have done my car should do more then 120 on the quarter mile.

And what did Wayne say? So, how does this master tech know the tune could use more work? What did the car put down? Who tuned the car before Wayne?

Wayne tuned it both times. I don't remember the exact figures from the last tune session but it didnt gain much if anything over my previous tune.

oo and this is the list of OEM parts that got replaced trying to solve the driveability issue.

-transmission
-torque converter
-tcu
-supercharger clutch
-supercharger clutch backing pulley
- sc belt
- accelerator pedal
- new 80mm throttle body
