Mercedes E55 AMG
SAT Radio Subscription Question

I bought my CPO E55 almost 2 years ago. It came with working satellite radio. I expected it to go off after the first year or something but it's still going strong. I'm not sure how the subscription service works but I figure I either slipped through the cracks or am on borrowed time. Is there any way of figuring out how much longer the subscription has left from the COMAND system? I probably could call them but I figure that might get my service disconnected. Any ideas? Thanks...

Hm, I think you do need to call them if you want to learn about a status of your subscription. They might give you an extra year, check your credit card statement. I really doubt that they are giving you service for free.

it's quite possible they are billing the former owner on an annual basis, or it was prepaid that long - I think you have the option for prepay multiple years....

1) They had an option for a lifetime subscription
2) You can always sign up on line and see if your account shows something (in case of a transfer since CPO purchase)

Just after I bought my CLS, I took it to my local MB dealership and had it "checked over". SA told me that the SAT was still active (which I already knew), just by pulling up the VIN. I assumed that the previous owner had a xx year contract or possibly was still getting pinged by his CC.

Anyway, I didn't push my luck about it, but it did just recently shut off on the way home of a 250+ mile drive (after about 6 months of service)...darn.

Remind me that I need to thank him/her...

I've got 3 lifetime subs with them. (Because you need one for every unit you have )

I'd be surprised if they don't transfer it to a new unit if that's the case.

I have a lifetime subscription in my car as well. I was reading the fine print the other day, and it said that lifetime subs associated with a car radio can not be transferred. The only reason I signed up for it was because I thought I could transfer it a total of 3 times for a $75 fee. Im hoping the exclusion was made recently. I purchased my lifetime 2.5 years ago.

Has anyone transferred a lifetime subsription from a car to another car, or to a portable unit? I would like to transfer it once my lease is up and I turn the car in.

They lied to you when you bought it. The 3 transfers is for a portable unit ONLY. Never applied to the cars. They lied to me not once but twice!

I transferred my wifes, from her last car to her new one.

We'd gotten that subscription about 5 years ago. They can definitely do it.

What a scam

They would be stupid not to let me transfer it. If they let me transfer, they have to potential to get another customer (whoever buys the car next), in addition to my 1 extra subscription that I have. If they dont let me transfer, I'll say never mind, Im keeping the car (Im not) and leave the lifetime subscription on there and cancel my other. Im just waiting until the last minute before trying.

Let it ride. Mine went out while I was driving, but I renewed the subscription while rolling down the road. Easy.
