Just curious does all W211 E55 AMG come with quad exhaust stock? I thought all W211 E55 AMG came with quad exhaust but today I saw a W211 with dual exhaust, solid 5 spoke (not split spoke) wheels and color coded rear valance but had the E55 and AMG badge in the rear.

 

All W211 E55 come with dual exhaust and quad exhaust tips. Anyone can replace those tips with whatever suits their taste so you probably saw custom tips or an aftermarket exhaust.

USUALLY the best way to tell a real from a fake (if it is so badged) is to look for the AMG brakes.

 

ok thanks...after looking at the pics I took it looks like the brake lights are incadescent bulbs not LED when on. Either the owner made such an effort to make it look like a non W211 E55 or it's a fake.

Its a poser.... the E55 has diffuser next to the exhaust, so with dual exhaust is imposible. Also check if has AMG badge in the seat. Also the Side body kit is different for E55 and AMG pkg car.

 

Here's the pics....I blurred the plates just in case not to offend the owner if he's on this forum. Looks like incandeschent brake lights and not LED that are standard on the E55.

Thats the W211 AMG sport kit that comes on the E500. Comes with the painted rear diffuser too.

All that he added were the E55 badges. Didnt even add the AMG ones.

It did have the AMG badge on the right. Because of my crappy BB Bold camera and lighting you can't see it. You can barely make out the AMG badge on the 1st pic.

I believe Bob was talking about the brake pistons...as those will be the larger AMG version.

 

All E55s have the LED brakes but so do some of the Sport packages, even the 350s.

The AMG rotors are cross drilled and have larger calipers.

 

Just cut to the chase and ask him to pop the hood and show you the AMG builders signature stuck to the SC. Video / post the exchange for us

 

This is farily common..I see AMG badges on non AMG cars all the time, in the MD/DC/VA area re-badging seems to be common and there are a considerable amount of mb's here as well so you see a lot more of it...heck a CLK down the street, a couple on the hwy today...see it everyday no big deal; to me enjoying one's car is a personal thing...if it makes you smile then that's all that matters

 

yeah its really common around the DC area. I think I see AMG badges on every other MB around here. And atleast 50% of the time they are DEFINETLY not AMG's!
I think its kinda funny. I roll up next to them and revv it up and try to see what they got and they usually cower and turn off.

 

If it's on a hwy and being pulled over with more than one cop car behind it or at a speed trap ...it may very well be an AMG
