Why would you take an S600, which is an amazing car, and turn it into a Poser? My guess is that it is an S350. If you're going to pose, pose high

I think it would be helpful to point out what makes them fake for us newbs looking to buy a car. I see a few around my area for sale but I dont know enough about them to determine which is fake or not.
Except for a few of these posts, they all looked real to me.
Would it be too hard to explain why they are fake?
Thanks

I think this is hilarious.....
when I was a kid we'd (freinds and I )
make fun of poseurs.....the kind that would
pretend they were skateboarders......
that was the only poseur I ever knew about.....

If the badges don't match the car (E55 on a C Class), it's a fake.
Easiest way to check is via the VIN.

Well trying to tell the difference between real and fake, the title of the car is usually the most fool proof way of doing it. You cannot easily fake a title like you can a chrome badge.
Example: A buddy of mine called me because his boss had just bought an E36 'M3' and my buddy said he bought it super cheap, and he was telling his boss it could not be real. The boss insisted it was real because the guy who sold it to him said it was, eventhough it seemed 'a little slow' for an M3. LOL!!
I had them send me pictures of the exterior, interior, engine bay, and VIN tag. The car had the exterior aero body pieces and wheels from an M3, and of course the badge. But the single exhaust tip and the base 3-series engine, along with the base 3-series interior said otherwise. I asked him if he had the title, and he said he did. Well, what does the title say?
Him: 'Well....it says 318is.'
Me: 'Well....if it says that, why did you think you were getting an M3?'
Him: 'The seller said it was real. The titles all say that.'
Me: (silence)
Him: 'Plus, it DOES say M3 on the outside.'
Me: (silence)
Him: 'Ummm...'
Me: 'You need to go back over there RIGHT NOW and demand your money back. Seriously.'
Him: 'Screw it. I got a good deal. I will just tell everyone it is an M3.'
Me: 'That is the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time.'
Him: 'No big deal. It looks like an M3, so I do not care.'
Me: 'Alright man. Good luck.'
I was stunned at how stupid this guy was. But maybe that is the market for these fake cars. To each their own. Remember to use common sense, and titles do not typically lie. If it says it is something else, like a base model of that car, it probably is no matter what the badges say. You can also take it to the dealer and have them check it out for you and confirm what it really is. I will stick with my real AMG.

Lol, speaking of posers...20 min ago as I enter the highway in my freshly washed pretty white/pano I spot a star grille in the second lane. I let him catch up and it's a e320 with quad exhaust and amg badge. No e320 badge either. LOL!
The driver looked at me like he was "whipping" his car as I let him get on my side. I laughed in his face for a few sec shaking my head and then I hit the gas which meant "bye-bye" for him.
The rest of my trip was much more enjoyable

No need to say this. Just because I want to know how to tell a fake from an original does not by any means constitute rather I should or shouldn't get an AMG.
I call it being an informed shopper. Don't be a snob. Either don't respond to an inquiry or post a constructive response.

The only way is the motor (of course), the brakes, the seats (AMG seats in Nappa leather with the AMG logo), the alcantara headliner, and the tachometer with the AMG logo. Those are some things that poseurs won't go that far with just to be wannabees. (expect the alcantara headliner is sometimes done by using suede leather headliners, and they have added bigger Brembo brakes and put on the AMG decal on the calipers.)
fwiw, those people also claim not to be posing but instead say they just think it makes their car look better. Most don't actually badge the car but then it looks like a debadged AMG, so they become posers anyway.

Obviously if you're buying one, you'll know. But as far as seeing them on the road or in an ad, it can be hard since a lot of people dress them up pretty close to look like AMGs. Even here in the W211/W212 forums you'll see posts by members with their non-AMGs dressed up with the dual exhaust/quad tips, wheels, bumpers, side skirts, rear spoiler, etc..

On the rest, I can agree with.
