if that's not a lot of money then why are there protest in the streets to raise the minimum wage to $15/hr (31K per yr)
keep in mind that an AMG that cost 18k-23K is going to be more than 6yrs old with most likely more than 70K miles on it, meaning you are not going to be able to get a loan on it, so you are going to have to pay CASH...
now most of those people aspiring to make $15/hr are not going to have 18k-23K in cash in their bank account..
who has 18K-23K in their bank accts? ..... most likely people that make 75K or more per year..... that's only 1/3 people in USA, so about 33% of the USA population can realistically own "afford" an AMG and that's a older used one...
if you want a newer used AMG, say a 2014 E63 then you are looking at about 75K cost which is about $1675 per month.... if you studied finance you would know that your should not go above 20% of you monthly income on car payment.... so to be at that you would need to make about 101K per year.... in usa only 1/4 people make that so 25% can afford a newer but still used AMG
so based on USA wages most likely only about 25% to 33% can really afford AMG's.... so I wouldnt say they are cheap if 66% to 75% cant afford them.....

i will agree with you though that AMG's depreciate rocket fast.... just look at the price of an 2014 Audi RS7 vs 2014 Merc E63 AMG (same class, same target audience)... average 2014 rs7 is 102K vs average 2014 e63 of 81K on autotrader...
the both originally had msrp of about 102-104K lol... the AMG dropped 20.5% in 1 yr on average and the RS7 only 1.9% in the same time

You lucky ****!! Now that's an expensive car, even the pizza shop manager can't buy that, let alone the pizza boy I don't get why the AMGs depreciate faster, it's obviously the nicer car. I like the RS7 but this is an AMG, it's a Mercedes, just cannot be matched

TS is probably a fundamentally decent guy who gets up everyday, works his *** off to provide a nice home and a sweet looking luxury ride for his wife and kids. The original thread poster seemed ok but the other guy seemed to get really bent out of shape when someone else has an opinion about the mods that differ from his own opinion. Looks like he just doesn't respect that others might have a view that's different than his own and he wants to shut down anyone who states otherwise. I decided to just get out of that thread before as I didn't want to upset him any more, it's not worth my time. But some people need to recognize that not everyone has the same opinion and that's what makes the world great. I respect that the OP in that thread is doing what he wants with his car. I just expressed that the car is great except that one thing is not to my taste but the other guy couldn't seem to wrap his head around the idea that it's OK to disagree, especially on an internet forum.

I have seen this guy around before, but this time got a photo. I'm guessing he really liked the look of the SL55 just hated the two tipped AMG exhaust so he switched them out with SL500 exhaust tips. Actually I am joking. Although it is a great looking SL, it doesn't even have the AMG appearance package. And the front calipers suggest caliper envy. (poor little fellas).
I would love to roll up next to him at a light and see if he wants to run our SL55s mano y mano.

Tried to take a pic this past week of a W219 CLS500 with a trunk that had "C63 AMG".
I think he caught me trying to take a pic of his trunk so he changed two lanes over to the right and slowed down until i passed him (...in my '02 Passat).
LoL. Why would he be embarrassed? I mean... it's not like HE didn't put it on there himself.
I need to get the picture of the W220 S-class in my dad's neighborhood. All debadged, except for an AMG badge on the trunk. However, it has base model wheels and limp exhaust.
You guys haven't seen ****. I've seen a Hyundai Tuburon with a Ferrari badge and "612 Scaglietti" on the back. It was being sold on a car sale website AS A FERRARI, I swear to God and I think I actually posted the link a while back but the ad is probably dead. This was 4 years ago I think. I actually called him to make sense of it all/make fun of him and he was the oddest person ever, he was convinced it was a "Ferrari replica"......

Two weeks ago when I was leaving Laguna Niguel, there was a completely stock SL63 AMG driven by an older caucasian gentleman with the most weirdest trunk badge.
I am not even kidding you guys... it said... " C A M R Y " across the trunk and nothing else. I couldn't take a pic cause he turned the intersection a bit fast.

No pictures but last night I was on the way home and saw a suspicious looking E class. It had large rims, lots of chrome badging and saw a E55 AMG on the back with crooked quad exhaust pipes. I began to chuckle since his windows were down and I was in "M" mode. I got alongside of him and did a slow roll with my windows down in 2nd gear (my car makes quite a racket) and then noticed "V12 BI-Turbo" badges on the side and just about spit soda all over the dash. He saw me and immediately slows down to get away from me. I downshift into first gear and my exhaust starts crackling and burbling (decatted, long tubes and 6.3 mufflers). I am slowing down at the same rate as him, just playing around. No traffic as it's late. I decide to ask him about his car and I just bought my AMG and wasn't aware they made a V12. The second he begins to talk about all the modifications I launch my car into outer space and gave him and earful of a real AMG.
