Air Suspension

Can someone please explain the air ride setting. I figured out the sport modes but my question is regarding the ride height, I used the up button however how do you release it to return to the lowest height.

Thanks your responses are appreciated.

hi there

Welcome to the forum!

Press it to raise, it takes a few seconds(Requesting up and down times, anyone?), press it to go back down, it doesn't give you a conformation, but it does. Look at the top of the benz logo and pick a spot on the pavement or something, you will see it go down. Raising and lowering is independent of the sports modes, but riding raised does compromise performance. I use it to get into parking lots and immediately push it to lower again, so I don't forget. TIP: when I have sunroof open, its hard to see the red lights, I cup my hand over it and look at them.

anyone know the height adjustments? in inchs and mm, I am to dumb for millimeters, though I can count milliseconds in my head!(from programming and such)

I thought I heard that Sport 1 and Sport 2 lower the car 10mm each, for a total of 20mm or ~4/5 of an inch from comfort height(25.4mm in an inch).

Raised ride height is also great for launching from a dig.

I think its 10mm total from the 2... Something like S1 just stiff, S2 stiff -10mm. I wonder if I could go test this myself? haha.

This is in the manual. And the car does drop to the S2 setting at higher speeds (70+).

From what I understand.
Ride height and shocks setting are totally independent.
You can raise the car in any shock setting and it will automatically cancel the raised height when you go over 70mph.
Now the s1 s2 and comfort adjust the dampening of the shock, now does this affect ride height is a much debated topic. From my experience the car looks lower in s2 than in comfort. stiffening the dampening may reduce the ride height but it is very negligible and only noticable to an person who is an enthusiast.

Normal ride height up to 69 mph, then lowers to -14mm
as you slow vehicle height will rise to normal height at 36 mph
Raised ride height (+19mm).
In raised mode lowers to -14mm if vehicle speed between 51 and 73 mph for 5 minutes
or to -14mm if vehicle speed greater than 75 mph
One time only, raised height cancelled once vehicle lowered.
