Hey Alan !
As far as long tubes go - I was at the track yesterday and there wasa guy with an E55 there. I have talked to him before and given him some tips. He told me that he got long tube headers from LET and his car ran the exact times I saw him do last time. Modding is about finding the right combination of go fast parts that for for your car and driving style, I think you found a GREAT combo.
But who knows maybe with long tubes it'll get better, you can always sell them if it doesnt work out.

Hey Mark! Thanks for the input but most will say that LT's should help, if the tuning is done correctly. Who did his tune, did he check AFR's after install, how was the quality of LET headers? I would assume LET did his tune since he purchased the headers from them. I guess that's all I'll say on this subject, I dont't want to get in trouble .

you guessed the tune on the car from last night. he was going ~12.0@120 with LSD, LET HSTC, LET long tubes, 180mm pulley, LET tune, rear mounted reservoir(which was awesome i touched his sc outlet pipe and it was freezing cold because he was adding ice to the reservoir). he kept saying he was going for the world record and that he was going to break into 10s

I'm not quite sure what world record he going for but his times seem pretty far off. I know that my car is definitely up there, especially for the mods I currently have. Hopefully when things cool down I'll get my 10's along with a 130+ trap...wouldn't that be great! If not I'm still very happy with my cars performance and it's still considered a beast.

alan's car traps MUCH higher than mine and I think it's pretty easy to figure out why. besides me making my times in the first 60ft, his taller rear tire, his less rotating mass due to lighter rims and rotors...he's making a LOT more hp with his larger pulley, larger tb, and r/t airbox. good god, I hope he doesn't get long tubes!!!

BTW...I'm going with LT's for sure and a couple of other little things. I have too many people modding up and preparing for Famoso. Once I get my car re-tuned with LT's I'll keep that a secret and wait for Famoso . Need to keep it interesting. Unless I hit my 10's first...haha.

I'm not quite sure why everyone thinks my car is so modded. Should we compare with other cars out there with similar mods? Let' see...Tell me what stage I have and how much different my mods are from everyone else?
1. Airbox (which some claims to be just for looks...am I right?)
2. 82MM TB ( new mod and definitely helps on the upper end)
3. VRP Headers ( the same one some made fun of because of its design)
4. ASP 180mm pulley ( seems to be working)
5. Custom Tune (no different than any other cars running fast times)
6. HE (everyone should have one if they plan on modding)
7. Rear reservoir ( must have in my opinion if you want to run during the warmer times)

Here is my take:
1. Airbox. Stock with K&Ns is good to 500RWHP, after that it starts to run out of air.
2. 82mm TB. Although only 2 mm bigger than 80, it flows almost 20% more air . IMHO, if we can get new housing cast as big as 90mm plus, there is another 15-20HP hiding in inlet flow. Of course matched to better intake.
3. VRP/FD headers. Actually more like a Hiflow Exhaust Manifolds (HEMs). In addition to MidPipe with 200 cell cats.
I will be also testing even bigger version of HEMs (1.875'' primaries with 3'' body) shortly.
4. 180 mm pulley. With better exhaust - boost drops 1.5-2 psi. We will be offering 190 mm ring very shortly for our pulleys to bring it back up to 14-15 range.
5. Custom tune. This is where the key lies in making any combination work perfectly. Alan's tune is based on original VR600 tune that runs on many 55s. With 200 cell cats and bigger TB custom tune allowed him to get everything just right.
6/7. Alan has bigger heat exchanger with rear reservoir and dual Johnson C30 pumps. With CA 91 gas, this setup is essential in keeping IAT under control and pulling timing out after 140F.
In the end it is how all of the "mutt" components are tuned together that makes the car run well.
Alan, do not do LTs, unless you are willing to retune software again.

After running against the LET tune twice last night I just can't believe what the outcome was. Our first run he got a jump on me and I was on his rear bumper. I remember thinking he should be faster until I hooked and realized my car was running strong. I knew I was going to catch him and in fact I pulled ahead. The second time the same thing happened and that is what the video is of. I'm seriously debating what the issue with his car can be. I was told he had the numbers on the dyno to show it. Also he has a 180mm ASP pulley, HE, -10 degree.
I can only find the tune to be the issue with why he couldn't remain ahead of me or even pull on me. I'm not bashing anyone, I just felt bad for the guy since here he is with a custom tune and stock is beating him.

Yeah...I'll tell you what guys, from here on out could I please be the one to list my mods if asked. I'm sure any other member here wouldn't appreciate someone else posting up their mod list. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm very open about my mods but at times like this I should just keep my mouth shut. Not cool!
