Anyone plan on keeping their E55/E63 for years to come?
I was wondering how many of you are planning on keeping your AMG's for more than just a few years? I have every intention to keep mine for a good long time. By that I mean 7-10 years and possibly longer. My age might have something to do with that as I'm not as young as most of you guys and gals. Like everyone else I took a big hit on the purchase price. I simply love the car and plan on purchasing an extended warranty, so it make sense to me to keep it for a long period of time. Am I not thinking straight?

Thats cool. Yeah I dont seem to be as young as a lot here either. Not too old, but do plan on keeping my e63 a while.
I have had it about 2.5 years now and will probably hold on to it 3-4 more at a minimum.
I too will be looking for an extended warranty of some kind here this coming year and hopefully hold on to the car a while.
Its not a daily driver for me but I do love to drive the car.
Heck I am still modding it
got 29 k miles on it and have loved almost every mile of it so far !

I plan to keep the E55 for quite awhile...I put too many $$$ (which I will never recoup) into it and it still runs great. I still have yet to find a replacement for it that could match it's power, luxury, and comfort out of the box...and with all the mods I have on it...it makes it even harder to find a replacement.
I still think it has a classic look...plus it only has 32K miles on it (2004 MY)...![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)

I haven't sold a car in the last 7 years....don't intend on it either. I get too attached to them to get rid of them. I still have my nearly 200K mile Audi A4 I bought and modified straight out of college.
My only problem is I need more space to keep the 5 cars we've currently got but buying a bigger house / garage cuts into my car budget too much

Funny you ask this now. Reason being is that I keep going back and forth. I look at the M6 and think i want to trade. Then I drive the E55 and look at it and think to myself "I am crazy" for even considering taking the hit.
I tend to get tired of cars quickly. So far, the E55 is a car that when I look at it and drive it, it still puts a big smile on my face every time. So right now, I would say no. But knowing me, I could be in another car at any time. Who knows. But the W211 E55 is a great machine

I've actually been going in the opposite direction - after getting the 55, I've been thinking of selling the ducati! Similar "go fast" felling but with out the constant "I may die at any second" paranoia. The only things preventing me from pulling the trigger are 1) bought brand new kangaroo leathers, new helmet and gloves (didn't need to, but magically, they arrived anyways) 2) it's paid for 3) it's summer. I have a 3 year/ unlimited mileage warranty from Chrysler so I'm definitely keeping it for that long - my parants have already expressed an interest in buying the 55 when I'm done so that may be an easy way to keep it in the family.

But seriously, I bought it with the intention of keeping it for a long time. My last MBs were older models and built like tanks. I kept them for a while.
I'll keep this one unless it proves unreliable and too painful to keep (hopefully that won't be the case.)
I have two other cars that are older, too. They'll stick around also. Once I find something that really works for me, I try to forget about all the new cars out there.
In certain ways, it's nice to own cars that were once considered top end performance cars and after time are still very fun to drive and cool to see on the street. It's kinda like that for me with my Porsche 993. I think it might be that way for the W211.

I love mine as much as the day I bought it. Always garaged and almost bone stock. I really love the E55 engine !! Maybe when my warranty expires in December of this year, I will do a few power mods. I plan on driving it for a long time.
Would like to talk the wife into a used SL55 one day as well.![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)

Nearly flipped mine for an SL65... but did not see the point of buying an older car... and putting in loads of cash to boot. SL65 lovely car though... think SL55 is better alrounder though... but its vvv close. SL65 has mega cool factor, you can smile at any 55 with confidence!
Think my '06 is a keeper for a few years at least. Its as new, had it since new so I know intimately. Need to refine / finish the mods and then leave it alone and enjoy it... bit like hi-fi ... always upgrading, adding changing stuff to get that marginally better sound / picture but dont spend enough time actually listening to music / watching movies!!!

i can't seem to get rid of it. i think i have an emotional attachment to the car. can't seem to really find anything that would satisfy my appetite quite like the E55 in terms of torque and just pure fun to drive - i think i will eventually just call VRP and get a new car in terms of stage 1 and 2

I will probably keep this car for a long time, though if the right opportunity arises I would like to move in a different direction with my choice of car. The reason I'd keep it is out of necessity; it's my daily driver and my only car at the moment. I'm relatively young and I had to finance the car so I can't really afford to take on two cars, or take a big hit to get into something else.
So I'm thinkin..... 4-5 years before I'll be able to get into something else. I do love the car though so if everything goes as planned, I can get into something else and still keep this one

Just got it for 1 momth and will keep for long. I changed car every 2 years and that is not smart at all, everytime buy and sell, always lose $$$.
My car is 06 with high milleage of 77K now. I plan to drive it until the car fall apart....... even my wife love it... she keep driving my car and I just get to drive the Camry........ I will make it 200k miles !

I had 2 benzes in the driveway last October that i was very happy with.
I was looking through pictures the other day and realized i've now got 2 different ones than i had in the pictures....but these 2 are much nicer.
The E55 is a perfect car for me. Ultra cool, super fast, and big enough for the wife & kid (soon to be kidS) anytime.
I say to myself that i will keep it for a long time, but, i may just be lying.

I suspect I will keep it until it is too expensive to maintain. Since I do all my own maintenance, that will be a long time.
To be honest, with the new laws requiring 35.5mpg by 2016, car like ours might be a thing of the past as far as the new market goes.
Anyone see this?

2006 E55 Wagon (RIP), 2019 E63S Wagon (Sold) 2023 AMG GT634S
The wagon rocks. Bought the MB 7 year warranty to 100K miles. NOTHING out there to compete with it. I only do about 10K miles per year.
Usually I have about an 18 month honeymoon period and then I change cars. Sometimes 2 years. Going on 3 years for the Uber Wagon.... and I can honestly say, I like it as much or more than the first day I bought it.
Looked at the specs of the Porsche Panamera - or whatever it is - and determined it took them this long to make an E55....
With Audi not doing the RS4 Avant, and no RS6 Avant, no M5 wagon and most likely no more E63 wagon.... I am kinda stuck. Not a bad place to be mind you - but hope that in 2013 there's a cool option that isn't an SUV.
