Bilal- Thanks for the pics. That is the best I have seen the W211 E55 look in pics, especially the pics on the last page. Is that your car? The E55 looks very sleek and aggressive in those pics. I am going to try get to the Auto Show this week to see it in person. Everyone has said it looks much better in person than in the pics.

Thanks again, great site.

Bones don't mention it pal, sorry its not my car

But the thing is, the only reason that car looks good in Silver is due to light conditions, especially in german light, it looks stunning, but in typical rainy dark, dull UK light, silver is not the way to go, I think black and those twin 5 spoke rims would be the way to go? No?
Please take pics from the Autoshow

Bilal- I just saw Tezta's pics, and black/black with the twin 5 spoke rims might very well be the way to go. Classic, elegant, and timeless combination especially for a lux/sport sedan. A black e55 would look great in the UK, Chicago, and LA in any light. I must admit that I was leaning towards Silver/black e55. I believe MB has the best silver in the business. It has a great glow to it in the sun, much better tha BMW's silver which seems to me has too much white in its makeup. After seeing Tezta's pics, black/black sure looks like the way to go.

Take care.

C55,

Are the 19 inch rims standard or an option on the 2003 E55? If an option, is it dealer or factory? What is the cost? Sorry, but I am confused.

19" rims for E55 (W211)

The ' normal ' rims on the E55 are the 18", ten spoke wheels. As a NCO you can specify the 18" traditional AMG wheels, (option code 790).

However if you want to de-restrict your engine, you need to run on 19" rims with Y or Z rated tyres, that gives you 200mph+.

The 19" rims for the E55, as for the SL55 are the split rims as in the picture.

There are some 19" rims, in the older five spoke design that came out on the limited edition CL55 F1, as these ' may ' - be possible on the new E55.

If this is not clear come back to me and I shall try and post some ' factory ' optional equipment rim pictures.

Prices as in anything AMG is high, but quality equally so........

:p

Bones, what did I tell ya man>?

Those pics are DA BOMBE!!!!

As for teh at white interior shot, Its a designo package, only available thropugh special request from a dealer who knows what you mean, come on guys you been there? You ask any dealership salesperson, whats this and they'll say, its photoshopped or giv eyou the alien from mars look. SO if you want it real bad, you gotz to make some calls, and get some contacts.

I'm just wiping the mess I made in my pants after seeing those pics.

The pic with the light interior is designo yep but its true that it is somewhat photoshopped - look at the ac controls and you'll know it has a combo of both the climatic and regular ac controls!! It has the red wood also which is quite nice but designo orders take forever to produce.

2003 E500
My E500 has 17s, and I could've sworn the E55 twin-spokes (just like the S55 AMG) were 18s, not 19s?

the british website price list shows staggered 18s.

18" or19" E55/SL55

You are right - the standard wheels on the E55, like the SL55 are 18",

In the case of the E55, the style is the new ten spoke, monoblock wheel, Style IV (code 421 I).

In the case of the SL55, the style is the new multi-spoke monoblock wheel,
Style V (code 484 I) - FA: 8.5J x 18 ET 30, RA: 9.5J x 18 ET 33.

However if you wish to de-restrict your engine, it is recommended that you move up to the 19" with Y or Z rated tyres.

These 19" are multi-piece, ( three piece ) and can be had in style IV, the ten spoke wheel, which comes in FA:8.5J x 19 ET25; RA:10J x 19 ET28.

On the E500, as you say comes standard with the more modern, 5 spoke alloy wheels, in 17"

Hope that all makes sense....Drive safe
