Probably $1500. I would love to hear more opinions about this item, I always wanted to put ecu program that would allow to have high performance tune and also possible to put back to stock when take it to the dealership.

This is not a power mod. the "RAT" (Renntech Auto Tuner) allows you to have multiple tunes on your computer then upload two at a time to your RAT via USB.
This mod will not do the average guy with one Renntech tune much good. For the racer and traveler it will shine. You can store many tunes on your home computer then select any two of them and load them up to the RAT. You can have all sorts of tunes for many different fuel types, Nitrous blablabla.
Also as far as i know you can have a stock file as well for dealer service.

Very interesting device..... Didn't they call it the block a while back? I have a few questions for you James.....
1) Assuming 2 different tunes are loaded into the RAT, and the RAT is connected to the car and it's running a selected tune. What happens to the original tune that was in the car? Is that tune replaced by one of the tunes in the RAT or does that original tune remain and the computer now reads the tune directly from the RAT?
2) Does the RAT have to stay plugged in? If so, what happens if it is un-plugged accidentally while driving? Will the car default to the last installed tune?
3) If I'm running tune 1, and I would like to switch to tune 2, do I have to shut down the car or can it be switched live?

correction: If you don't have a Renntech tune it will come with a tune for home flashing. Rather than shipping your ECU to Renntech. So another benefit is you dont have to pull your ECU out anymore you can just ship them the RAT.

Mike, then now I have a question about home flashing.. I will give you my example, so you might help me out. I have e55 stock to the bone and because of people in my local dealership are bag of tools,They love to void warranties because of performance modifications I don't want to send ecu and install pulley for that So will that plug-in work fine with a stock car just to get more hp?

You will want to purchase a tune with the RAT to allow you to go back and forth from a tuned file to a stock file.

The RAT is basically the block that rick has but for the ME2.71 and not for the ME9.7's that the 63's and 550's have.
1.) I'm kind of confused, but hopefully I'm answering your question. the RAT basically is a flash loading tool. Which every files you have uploaded to the RAT, those will be the files that you can switch between.
2.) The RAT does not need to remain plugged in.
3.) However you will need to go through a few key cycles for the new file to be uploaded so no switching of files on the fly.

this is a great product if the price is right..
I just hope the tune is not $1500 and another $500 for the gadget.
I'm sure other companies can come up with a cheaper solution.

I think that would be a more then a reasonable price, considering that powerchip also sells there tune for $1495.

Well there was a guy on the board a month back that said he worked for diablo sport and they would be coming out with a hand held tuner for around 600.00 in about a year.

It's an '06.
Question. How do they ptotect the tune installed on the RAT from being shared with buddies etc? It sounds like you're not limited to Renntech tunes so could you buy just the device and get another tune to put on it?
