Certainly impressive, but he has gone faster in a C6Z06 with DR's and nothing else.

I know that the DA's were different, but the point is that there is more there to be gained.

I drove one a few times and they feel like a low, low 10 from a roll.

Not sure why, but felt more cramped in the seat than in the C6 z06. Just hope the SL65 black has a enough room

Ranger has been a legend ever since I was in the c5 forums years ago. I don't get what he does differently...

I know I read somewhere he said that bc that car has SUCH tall gearing in first, it's hard as hell to launch. Does basically 70mph in first.

IMO I think I would have a hard time getting into someone else's car and letting it rip! I would also think that he may need some more seat time. 2 passes it not nearly enough, when you listen to his starts he is trying roll into the throttle resulting in his 1.76 7 1.78 60' compared to his 1.67 60' when he ran 10.85 in HIS Z06.

Yea with more seat time he'll get those times way down. If I'm not mistaken his first pass in his C6 Z06 was mid 11's and then he just kept working it down!

also the owner of the car put down a 1.75 on street tires on his way to a 11.05 @ 129.05 compared to Ranger's 10.95 @ 131.87 so you know that he could go lower with a better launch.

hehe difference is. 1.76 was on street tires on the ZR1 while the 1.67 was on drag radials on the Z06.

1.76 is pretty damn good for manual car with that much power and street tires.

There are a lot of people out there that just live for the ET time and dyno number on paper. If you can drive it like a raped Ape, then people will line up for you to get a good time in ""their""" car.

I was suprised the first time I saw that feverish look in a rookie drivers eye as he pleaded with me to drive his car down the track for him.. I still prefer to help them drive their own car but if the car is nice,, what the hell.. I am game

Rangers launch: I call that Launch ,a stall launch or bog launch. You basically have to find the sweet spot of the factory tires and car`s power. So you find the RPM that you can drop the clutch on. Can not slip the clutch at all but just let it out. You may sit at the light at 6000 rpm and then just let the clutch out, with no slip. This lunges the car forward , creates a slight bog and allows for the best traction possible. to much bod and you lose ET and not enough and you blow the tires.. Once you have this mastered, the rest is just cheers and gears..

takes a lot of launcehs to find that sweet drop the clutch spot.. To me, this launch method is about as close a simulation as you can get an M6 to replicate an Auto off the line.

Very impressive ..... indeed this was a very smooth run

But still something bothers me..... driven by an extremely good driver with over 100+ hp advantage and "almost" same weight as Z06, the ZR1 should've performed a little better than this

I'm really hoping that as time passes by, we see very low tens from this car.

It took a long time to get the best times out of the Z06, give it time

If you read the description of the video (top right), the ZR1 was on dr's, too.

So it is clear, my point is that there is still a few tenths left in this car with more practice.

The conditions that Ranger ran the Z06 in were as close to perfect as you could get. He also owns the car. I read some articles by him and he practices shifting in his garage every day. The guy has hundreds of passes (maybe thousands?). He just needs to get a little more familiar with the car and the weather needs to cool down. I'm sure Ranger will show us what this car is truly capable of this fall.

Just to add when Ranger ran 10.85 @ 129xx with a 1.67 60' that was his 52nd pass in his Z06!
