2007 Acura RL
thinking of what car to buy next
I'm trying to decide what car to buy next.. the AMG Benz's
always interested me.
I've never owned a mercedes before and always heard bad things about any that were more than a few years old. Would any of you be so kind to tell me some pros and cons to amg benz ownership?
Are there any reliability/longevity issues etc I should be aware of before making my final decision?

You have a Acura RL which is AWD car must handle pretty good.
The RL is a luxury and well equiped car such as better navi system.
The AMG is much high performance car with more low-end torque compare to Acura. Reliability I believe Acura is better but again, safety and performance Mercedes AMG is better solide car. Jap car general speaking is very low maintanance and German car require more. But the driving Feeling is completery different. You should test drive and you will see the differences.

I mean don't get me wrong, I love my RL.. I love how it looks lowered with the factory body kit and spoiler.. I love all the features it offered for $43k otd brand new.. For sure love the way the awd system handles BUT... The lack of power was utterly disappointing
I mean 290 hp isn't much for a luxury sedan but come on.. it feels like i'm driving a honda accord when i get on the gas.
I took my buddy's CLK 55 around the block and man does that thing have some pick up

It's also good to mention that you can get a decent E for 30s or so,even less if you go for a 2004 as I saw 2005s and 06s for 30s. If you do get an AMG car, I and many other members suggest making sure it comes with a warranty(factory or extended).

If you think a CLK55 has pickup, you should wonder what an E55 should have as the CLK55 is a all motor 5.4 while the E55,S55,SL55,CL55,CLS55 have a 5.4L Supercharged engine. If you want the forms of extremes your Acura will be tame and controlled while an E55 will be much more violent in power delivery and feel as it's a RWD car. Despite that though the E55 is a choice daily driver for many members as it gives great balance between comfort daily driving and aggressive power spirited driving. It's also good to mention that you can get a decent E for 30s or so,even less if you go for a 2004 as I saw 2005s and 06s for 30s. If you do mileage might be an issue and it might be an 2003, first year for it. I suggest that you get something 04 and up concerning the S55, E55, etc. as bugs were solved after the first model year run.

Unless you need that much room, I would suggest sticking to an E55 for more of a sporty feeling during everyday driving. The S55 is very powerful, but still feels like a boat compared to the E-Class. Good luck

As a former only acura and honda owner, i have to agree, the mb is a total different beast. When my legend reached its end after nearly 15 years and over 180k miles, I was in the market for another vehicle. I was going lexus GS until i test drove a e55 from my sales person recommendation. Nuff said.

i guess yeah....it happened fast as well....i looked up the car...went the next day...drove it...luved it....in a couple of hours took it home.....but remember bt the extended warranty...if the car ur gonna buy doesnt have one already get it direct frm ur benz dealership...the price diff is not much...and u have peace of mind..
