so if I were to pick up this package would it be best to do an exhaust for most power? or to leave it stock for most power, Im kind of lost. On a G55, with your kit what would you recomend I do / we do with our exhaust to see the MOST power gains and to make the most of the upgrade? oem exhaust or after market exhaust? with cats/ without cats? with resonators/ with out resonators?

On G55, FD555 still works the same.
The exhaust manifolds are different. I would have to make different H-pipe inlets to adapt HEMs to it. HiFlow 200 cell metal cats and remove resonators. 82 mm TB and you will be around 620-630HP.
I did very similar package on SL55, that will be called FD625. I will post dyno graphs later today.

Out of curiosity, with a 175mm pulley & tune on a stock E55, why does your car only show a 50rwhp/rwtq gain? I have been reading around on the forum and most of the stage 1 kits w/ pulley+tune+filters are advertising 70+rwhp.

Maybe a better point of reference would be what these cars are doing track performance wise. Like mentioned before, tuners could list whatever they want for HP gains but it doesn't mean crap unless it performs like advertised. Start contacting people with a stage 1 car and ask about track performance, drive-ability, shifting, and etc. Remember to take into consideration track conditions and DA if they do indeed track their cars. Don't be fooled by people manipulating dyno numbers. Most of the time if it sounds to good to be true it usually is. JMHO

I'd really like to have this done, but I'd probably need to have it installed which means driving the car to CA (I'm in UT). Does this pulley & tune make more than the LET equivalent?
I also already have two-month-old K&N filters; would I get a little discount if I didn't need new ones?
I guess I'll have to see what the going rate is when I can come up with $2300 + a trip to CA.

Is there clearance between the water pump pulley and 190mm crank pulley? Even on the 180mm kit, the crank pulley almost touches the custom smaller WP pulley? Just Curious.

I have been doing 55Ks since they came out in 2002. I have developed most of the parts that evosport sells, as well as my own line. I have yet to see a pulley and a tune, as commonly reffered to as Stage I, to add more than 50-55RWHP.
There is another 5-10HP with 93 octane. All of our numbers are with 91CA.

Alan, pulley is two piece design. The outer ring can be changed to any size.
ECU can be programmed to a single octane setting. However, it will work with +-2 points, as stock knock sensors will take care of any fuel variables.

Our next Power Package is FD625, which adds 82 mm TB, lower heat spacers and HiFlow Exhaust Manifolds (HEMs) to the FD555.
Next level will be adding 3'' MidPipes with an X-pipe, VRP cams and 190 mm damper. I expect power level to climb close to 675 HP. This is very close to what Alan is running now. An addition of External Intercoolers (SLR style) should bring it low to mid 700s. After that the blower is very close to it's airflow limit.

What is the e55 stock boost with no mod's at all straight from the factory?
When some one does the FD625 kit what boost will there car run and what pulley size do u use on the FD625 kit?
Can the stock engine (pistons/rods) so on handle the FD625 with every day driving ?

2. FD625 uses 175mm pulley, 190 mm is currently being data logged. I will have more info shortly.
3. Stock engine can handle over 700HP with no problems. FD625 is actually easier on the engine in terms of allowing it to breathe better and to run cooler. AMG builds the engines to run on autobahn for hours at a time at over 100 mph. Which very few of us in US or other countries would be able to get away with and thus load the engine at the same level.
