After getting no traction at the track(first time with the car)I am going to order a set of drag tires.Any ones you guys recommend?

My best was a 12.9 @112 with a 2.221 60ft

Mickey Thompson's 265-40-18 ET Street Radial II.

I had several high 1.6's with these tires and would highly recommend this tire on a 18" rim.

Here is a another model of MT`s that is also well proven. Note the "special sidewall for quick launches".. Few less water groves for that extra contact..Can`t go wrong with either one though..

for the absolute best track performance i would go with MT. for something that will work almost as well and last longer on the street ... Nitto 555R Drag Radial. Nittos need a longer burnout to warm up at the track but they wear slower then MT if you actually drive on them full time. Nittos are also good in the rain.

Nice find!!! I was thinking the same thing as Blackbenz, no 18" available in Street radials.... Its weird that it's not listed on MT's website, at least I couldn't find it. Once again nice find!!!!!

Sorry to bump an older thread, but I called my local tire shop to order a set of MT Street Radials. He informed me that he could hook me up with a set of BF Goodrich TA Drag Radials for about 1/2 the price....MTs being $250 each and the BFGs at $130 each. The MTs are highly regarded on this board, but not much said good or bad regarding the BFGs. Is it a decent drag tire? This will be my first time at the strip, would it even make a difference to a novice? Also they would be a 275/35-18 as opposed to a 265/40-18. A little less sidewall I guess could have an impact at launch. Thanks much for any thoughts.

I've tried all three of those tires. BFG's are ok, not great. The MT ET Street Raidials are alot stickier IMHO. The 265/40 being a better tire than the 275/35. I once borrowed a brand new set of BFG's from my good friend Jason on a track day because my CCW's came in the wrong offset. I couldn't get sub 1.6 60's because they would spin with a more agressive launch. Needless to say, I burned through the tires in one day! Thats probably because I had my car setup for road course and not the strip so excessive negative camber. This was when my car was full weight and ended up runnig 11.09 They were the 275/35 BFG's. I recommend the MT's but if you just want to get a hang of drag racing the BFG's will do. With the MT's you will get better traction.

These are the wrong answers. Damn. I was hoping there wasn't too much of a difference between the two brands. Thanks for the info.
