random stall in traffic.WTF????
was wondering whether anyone could shed any light on this. Mooched off work today and driving home through traffic - pretty slow, and BAM, car just stopped. no coughing etc, just died (on a main road). All warning lights stayed on. Cue moment of "oh f**k*" while I looked for the hazards. pulled to a stop shoved back in park and started fine. No malfunction warnings, temp was fine, no nothing to indicate what the problem was. Pretty hot about 33 which is, so the internets tells me, about 94F. Very random but now Im worried about it happening again, particularly during peak hour. no engines mods but for secondary back exhaust. Any ideas?

thanks for the input so far: yeh it was a bit scary, particularly as I was still moving (not fast) and of course no engine = no power stear so that aint fun. Cant imagine brakes would last long either without the engine going.
Car kicks over straight away;
Dont have keyless go;
Seems to be idling fine, certainly doesnt seem to be running rough.
I went for another drive to see if I could tell anything different and nope, other than, weirdly, the shifting has changed kind of like a reverse sneaky reset in that in S mode is changes up earlier. I drive in M most of the time so this doesnt really concern me. But yeah, bizarre.

Happend to me a couple of (random times), mostly when changing from reverse to drive when exiting the driveway.
Not happened for about a year, so guess that means it's going to happen again today!![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Didn't do anything about it, seems to be fine and like I say, hasn't done it for a while... until later today more likely !

This happened to me today... and then when I got home, the car wouldn't start anymore. Waited about 30 min and it'd start again, but had a CEL. Ran the code and it was for crankshaft position sensor.
Car is at the dealer now, was too worried about it getting me stuck somewhere to wait until Monday. They were awesome enough (HIGHLY recommend Amin @ SLC Ken Garff) to lend me an 09 C300 Sport (4Matic though, no 6spd for me
) for the weekend. Sure makes me appreciate my E55 though!
This car feels like a much smoother/more muted ride than the E. Is it just my tires? Or is the new C300 just a quiet car?
