AMG Front Brakes
I know its going to sound weird on why we need to do this but anyone with experience with this, please let me know if it can be done. On a 05' E55, is it possible to disconnect just one of the front calipers while leaving the other 3 car calipers alone and still be drivable? I need it disconnected not removed. In essence i need the caliper to be there, in place, but when the brake is applied only the 3 other brakes will work and the one disconnected just isn't grabbing the rotor. I dont know if im explaining it as well as i should so if you need any further information please contact me. For the ones who do understand what we are trying to do i just want to insure you this car will be driven off road and in a safe/controlled environment.

Why?
The only way i would kow of is to have the hydraulics feed into another setup. You will have a monster of a time foolong the sensors, since they really focus on the front wheels. Any difference in spin will be considerd loss of traction and ESP / Antilocks would kick in.
Again, why? If it is worthy, ok. But if foolish, you may pay so be sure this is what you want.

Seems possible if you disconnect the lines going to the caliper and block/cap them off. That way the pressure will still remain in the system, if the car has SBC forget it don't even try it.

Are you trying to drift your E55? Or do stunt stuff with it? All you have to do is plug the brake line to the caliper. Either with a pipe thread plug at the manifold or any other manner at the caliper. No fluid to caliper then the caliper won't function.

Guys slow down. I think he wants to run the car that way, so a block of wood wouldn't help. again, he wants to run the car so simply blocking the hydraulics won't help either. Do not forget about the car. It is an '06 E55. It has SBC, ESP, etc. It will not like it and will need more than simple plugs. Can it be done? Yes, but make sure it is worth it. If this is to drift, then whatever. You pay to play so do whatever makes you feel big. If you really want to go nuts remove the rotor and pads. Then who cares what the caliper does?

SBC is the most complex brake by wire system ever. Let us know how you out smart it.
BTW don't disconnect any lines with out disabling the SBC, it is dangerous to work on with out a STAR machine.
Be careful

The E55 chooses brake bias (front to rear) based on many sensors. It uses more rear pads than any car I've seen because of it. OP needs to fill us in on the fun. If there is a method to this madness then it can be done but it will be intense and great learning for us all.

I don't think you can do that. As one member said, there are two many sensors that will sense that something isn't right. For one, I think your ABS/Stability Control systems will be confused as hell. Everytime you step on the brake, your car will begin to YAW and your stability is going to kick in while your ABS will pump and wonder what the heck is going on.

This is easy. You will all slap yourselves on the head.
Do any one of the things listed to disable the brake.
THEN. Put the car in dyno mode!!
I would recommend making sure you have life insurance and have a will.
