The vbox/pbox is a data logger. Basically if you put a flash card in, it will graph the data (speed) over time. After a certain amount of time it will create a new file (graph) and start the data logging process over again until you run out of space on the flash card (which is pretty hard to do...but you can delete the old files once you have read the flash card and saved the runs onto your computer).
Since it is a data logger, and you can do the analysis at home, there is nothing special you need to do to get a 60-130mph (aside from making sure you pass 130mph). However, if you don't put the flash card in, you would have to set the vbox/pbox up to do a 60-130mph run....which it will only display on the small screen...but it will be lost forever once the power is turned off. Those runs wouldn't count anyway, as there would be no way to confirm the slope of the run without having it saved on the flash card where that information is stored in the data logging.

My Pbox should be arriving next week. Can't wait to see what kind of numbers I can pull off.
Does anyone know how accurate these are at measuring 60' times? I'm curious if it can be accurate/consistent over a relatively short distance?

Timeslip 60': 1.727s vs vbox: 1.98s (Drag radials)
Timeslip 60': 1.706s vs vbox: 1.97s (Drag radials)
Timeslip 60': 1.730s vs vbox: 2.04s (Drag radials)
Timeslip 60': 2.167s vs vbox: 2.49s (Stock Tires)
Timeslip 60': 1.994s vs vbox: 2.39s (Stock Tires)
As you can see, the timing lights lag behind .25-.40s compared to the GPS based vbox. I would speculate it is mostly due to the how deep you stage at the track.

Thank you for posting up your data. Seems consistent enough to at least let me know if I'm improving. Hopefully I can try it out this weekend.

I will make sure that the vbox gets to the track (not sure if I can get away from work yet). It might make sense that you bring your own SD memory card (under $10) so you can take your data with you when you leave the track and use a card reader at home to analyze the data. You can download the "performancetools" software from this website:

MIR has a long runoff. I expect to be trapping close to 130 in the 1/4 anyway

learned something new again. I would consider a 60-130 test a run that started at a steady-state speed of 60, not one that was accelerating through 60. Now I see why this will work at a drag strip, i guess you keep going until you hit 130 rather than the 1/4 line.
thanks again

I would say your drag strip time will be marginally worse 60-130 as you would have a fraction more heat soak built up before you hit 60... gunning from 40 roll would probably be the best as long as you dont get wheel spin...

I didn't read entire thread above but, anyone use this Vbox for extrapolating 0-1mile data I.E. like the texas mile? (I know Dragstrip isn't long enough etc) But plenty of daring peeps on here have posted 170-200mph speedo vidz, any 1 milers out their try this w/Vbox on E55/CL65/600 etc?

Good afternoon Mr. Banner....I never have, I personally dont like to go that fast and it takes a lot of road for us in our area...I dont think I have been much over 180ish, although quite smooth its very dangerous as any corrections at this speed are quite tough and on public roads wrecks can be catastrophic....just my .02......man did I just sound old?

ARGH! I went out to find the perfect empty private road to make my run, but I ended up letting off at 128.9 MPH
I was just going to abandon the run as I thought I only clipped past 120, and the road was a little too bumpy for my liking, but if I knew I was only 1 mph away I would've stayed on it. I was too paranoid to try again (every worst case scenario running through my head), but at least got a good vid clip of it. I really wish there was any empty airfield around here.

I finally got hold of a Performance Box and headed towards Mexico. My place in Mexico only allowed one run last night and the results were less then desirable. I had my brother in the car and started the run from 20-140. I spun all the way past 65 with ECU cutting back right around 55...totally sucked. I ended up getting a 8.4 but I guess for my first run it wasn't that bad. After this pass I noticed a helicopter patrolling the area and decided not to take any chances with the Mexican Police. I'm a little disappointed with my times but it wasn't a very clean run at all. I also noticed that my 100-130 time was right around 4.4....this isn't that great.
I'm not sure what the numbers mean but I decided to wait for the track to get some accurate numbers for my car. Things are getting a little too risky around Mexico with a few racing fatalities this month. I was really disappointed that I couldn't get my car to hook on my first run. I honestly believe I'll be in the mid to high 7's during my next track event...we shall see.
