I only used the old G-tech model which used an accelerometer rather than GPS. The new GPS model looks good but I am not sure how the data is logged. For verification purposes the vbox/pbox stuff really can't be tampered with in the software files. I am not sure how the G-Tech data is formatted...is it dumped into excel...where it can be manipulated?

I am not saying you would fudge anything...just not sure how the G-Tech GPS data logging works and how to verify any #'s.

Updated Times

My '09 GT-R with AAM downpipes, AAM 2.75" intake, AAM resonated midpipe, AAM custom 93 octane tune, ID 1000cc injectors and HKS spark plugs ran a 7.42s 60-130mph time over the weekend in about 37 degrees with a 1.71% decline and nearly a full tank of gas. I think I can improve upon this time (maybe .2s).

People need to take advanatage of the cool weather and do some vbox runs!

Cold weather definitely helps, if it doesn't make the traction unmanageable. Also wondering how much difference it makes going from a level run to the max 3% slope. Its probably a good .50-.75 seconds? I'm thinking on a good decline I could have achieved a 6.50-6.70 sec run. I'm sure some people have compared their level runs to the heavy declines. What were the differences?

Last track rental at MIR with the same configuration my GT-R ran 7.82 in about 10 degrees warmer weather (on a 10.838 @ 128.41mph 1/4 mile run without using launch control). I have also run my old CL65 with Kleemann ECU tune at MIR and on the same private road. The best time on the private road in sub-freezing temps was 8.45s...at MIR in about 50 degree temps it ran a best 8.83s

MIR is virtually flat as it drops 6 inches from 1/4 mile start to finish and then is a 0.3% slope after that (drops 3' the next 1,000'). As mentioned, my 7.42s run was on a 1.71% declining slope with about 1/2 tank more gas than I ran at MIR (good for about 58lbs extra load). If I get a race gas tune and run with 1/4 tank (in some 20-30 degree weather temps) I would think that mid-to-high 6's wouldn't be out of the question.

Also interesting to note is that after the 7.42s run I turned around and immediately did a standing start run with the following results (with 1' roll-out like the U.S. car magazines and WITHOUT using Launch Control):

0-60: 2.92s
0-100: 6.36s
0-120: 8.89s
0-130: 10.46s
60-130: 7.54s
1/4m: 10.81 @ 132.05mph (GPS trap)

Not bad for All Season tires...running on regular pavement in 37 degree weather without using launch control.

Tom

Sounds about right. About 3-4 tenths better with a slope. On my 6.95 level run...the GPS was reading over 133mph in the qtr mile, so your traps make sense.

I know it definitely can't compare to the M3 in speed but for a 4 door luxury and space package it's hard to beat with the torque and driveability.

I'm interessted in this product also.
I think i would give it a try.
So here is the answer of their customer service:

Yes you can switch from imperial to metric units and back whenever you want, there is a simple setup option to do that.
Once you switch to metric units all distances will be displayed in meters and kilometers, speed in km/h, engine power in kW and so on...

Yes you can measure acceleration from 100-200km/h or any other values.
G-Tech will show you the speed graph after the run and you can easily find 0-100, 100-200km/h or anything else you would like to know.
The interface is simple to use, you can set markers at 10km/h intervals and read time difference on the screen.

If you wish to export recorded data or print the speed graphs for documentation or something else,
you should take the Fanatic RR, or add an SS to RR upgrade kit to your SS at any time.

I ran a 12.6@121.9 with my vbox on flat terrain. I couldnt hook in 1st gear so I had to short shift. My C63 only has tune.

Are you in Socal? I believe Xtyper is taking his C63 to Famoso tomorrow, and I'm going to be doing some runs in the 135i. Its the first test and tune of the year, with great weather. (Sunday)

Could we not just use the Torque app which is avail for both iOS and Android? It uses GPS.

Does it also log elevation to determine the slope of the run? I am also not sure how you provide "proof" of the run.

Wow that is definitely moving! In cooler weather and with a slightly bigger decline (MIR only drops 6 inches over the 1/4 mile) you would likely hit 6.9X. Congratulations on a great run!

I ran a 6.93 and a 7.07 I think it was on a cooler night using a autologic box. It was on a decent hill though. The car pulls so hard up top now with these ported heads. In some cooler weather it will be well into the 6's I believe.
