Thanks Tal! That run was from July so ambient was probably mid 80s. I didn't log the run, was driving home from work and the road was open so dropped the hammer!
Thanks Alan. I really want to see one of our cars hit 7s, but like we have talked about, it won't happen at the track. I have tried a few times to get a run in the past couple weeks, but keep running up on cars so haven't made it over 120mph. Don't feel like spending a night in jail.
Thanks, Tom! Your cts-v is a beast. Is that with one shift? Are you running it the 20th?

Tom, have you tried any 60-130 times at the track? If you have to short shift in a 60-130 run I'm sure it will affect your times but still would be interesting know.

I have hooked up the vbox numerous times at the track. The car usually runs slower for a bunch of reasons. As you mentioned, I usually try to get the best 1/4 mile run which would be allowing the car to shift normally and not focused on being in the optimal gear at 60mph. Also, MIR is virtually flat (something like 0.2 to 0.3% decline. My normal "closed course" is a 2.0-2.5% decline. When I head to the track it is usually a track rental. I am at the mercy of the weather that particular day, as opposed to just jumping into my car on a colder early morning and going to my "closed course" which is 10 minutes from my house. I can't use my last runs at MIR in the CTS-V to gauge the difference because my car was having serious shifting issues on the 3 to 4 shift (hitting limiter for well over 1/2 a second). But in my CL65, I was always a good 0.3 to 0.4s off between MIR and my usual closed course runs.

Last night in some nice cool air (37 degrees) I ran my CTS-V (now with 9.5" crank pulley). It ran a 7.71s 60-130mph with a 2.5% decline.
I am actually pretty surprised how fast it ran given I kind of did the run without trying to optimize certain things. I usually run with at most 1/2 tank of gas, take the booster seat out and empty the trunk. This time I ran with just under 3/4 tank of gas, booster seat and all my stuff in the trunk (air compressor, extra engine oil, maglite, cleaning supplies, towels, SCT handheld, etc.). I also ran with my stock throttle body, I previously was running with a ported LS7 (90mm) throttle body. I took it off because it was throwing some codes.

It was about 28' over an 1,128' run. It is kind of hard to say. When I ran my CL65 at MIR, which had about a 3' drop the temps weren't nearly as cold as compared to my runs on the same "closed course". I ran a best of 8.45s in very cold weather and an 8.83 at MIR in about 30 deg warmer weather. So I would think that the 2.5% decline can be worth .20 to .25s.
Then again, I probably could still improve on the 7.71s run as I could run with less gas (ran with almost 3/4 of a tank), booster seat in the back, and 30lbs of stuff in my trunk. I also attempted a run immediately before but screwed up my technique and the automatic downshifted to second which caused massive spinning and like an idiot, I ran past 130mph anyway. I ran the 7.71s run 2 minutes after the first (ok, to be accurate 2 minutes and 20 seconds). I would imagine that the blower might have been a little hot at that point. But I am satisfied with a 7.71s run for a 4,200+lbs four door sedan. Now I am going to focus on seeing what my GT-R will run.

w/o the decline = 8.20 seconds. Portion of gravity parallel to road contributed about .80 ft/s2 to acceleration. Backing that out, recalculating v1=v0 +at, blah, blah..

As I stated before, my CL65 ran an 8.45s over the same stretch of road in sub freezing temps (high 20's) and then ran an 8.83s time at MIR with a .3% decline (in 58 deg temps). That is a .38s difference without factoring how much the 8.45s time was aided by the freezing temps (those biturbo V12's LOVE cold air).

That might be the case in pure theory happening in a vacuum, but that doesn't take into account the friction of the road surface and wind resistance.
