engine mount
Hey guys
How do you know if your engine mounts have worn out?
When i drive my car around town in slow moving traffic for about 1 hour my car starts to make a knocking sound like my subframe is loose, I have had my car on the ramp 2 times now to check the suspension but cant find nothing.
Reason i think it is a engine mount is someone said they are liquid filled
.
Somebody help me i hate the noise.

pop your hood. put the car in drive hold down on the brake and blip the throttle and see if the engine rises up more than 3 inches or so there bad. and do the same in reverse. also if you check it up on a ramp. look at the engine mounts (might have to take a panel off) but youll see fluid seeping out of them if broken. (either have some one watch the engine or with the hood open you can see the engine from under the hood) how many miles are on the car? they usally dont start going back on some of the more powerful engine till about 50-60k but sometimes last till 80-90k just depends on driving habbits

Car has 65,000 miles on it. But it only happens once the car starts to drive around in slow moving traffic for about an hour, otherwise you can drive allday on the motorway and on the way home at slow speeds you get no noise.

slow speeds but when it makes that sound do you blip the throttle? ive seen engine mounts so bad when you are going slow and you step on it the torque of the engine pulls up off the broken motor mount then you feel it slam back down on the subframe, is it like that?

Mbtech221 that noise that you are on about is like a loud thump noise, this is more of a when a balljoint is completly worn out or like something becomes loose when the car warms up.
Once the noise starts it dosent matter if i blip the throttle or not, even when im braking from 15mph and the car is rolling the noise comes.
Eurosport when the noise starts it dosent really have to be a bumpy road to hear the noise even on a smooth road the noise is there.
