E55 exhaust and wheel advice
Just purchased an 04 E55 yesterday which is an upgrade from my CLK 500 I just sold. First question, do I leave the wheels white or paint them a darker color? Second, the AMG exhaust is much quieter than I thought it would be and I'm looking at something to make it a little more aggressive but not stupidly loud. I had a magnaflow on my CLK and it did drone a bit but it really didn't bother me. Would deleting the secondary cats improve the sound or will i need to swap mufflers as well? Thanks for any advice!

Very nice clean car, If I recall correctly this one was on ebay 2 weeks ago correct? Very nice color.
First off the wheels don't look bad at all, some may say it looks off but different strokes for different folks. i personally like the way it looks with the white lorinser wheels but you may get a bit tired of them after a while. I would do polish.
In terms of the exhaust you may want to probably do headers and delete primary cats and see how you like that. If it still too quiet than go ahead and delete the resonators. if it's still to quiet still, I would explore the idea of adding an Eisenmann Exhaust. That should rock your world. LOL

When you're ready to upgrade to a set of proper 3pc custom wheels made for the E55, click the link in my signature. There's pics in that thread of what they'd look like on your car.
Congrats on the E55, it's a helluva ride.

Good luck with the new ride. Exhaust is too subjective to give advice on. There are plenty of exhaust threads on here with sound clips. Here's one to get your search started: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...5-exhaust.html

thanks for the tips fellas. Yes V12 this one was on Ebay a couple of weeks ago. I flew up to Chicago on Thursday and drove it home. Very clean car, my bro is the shop foreman and the MB dealership here and he was pretty impressed with it. Got the guy down on price too which was nice.
Seems like I will stick wtih the white ones for now. They are kind of growing on me and i think it will look ALOT better with the black windows next week. Thanks again for the input.

TBbrutually honest I normally hate those wheels (as being obvious SLR replicas) and if I was ever asked if white on white (SLR rep/any wheels/body) would look good on a W211 AMG I would sick up a bit but no, I really, really, like it. Is individual and actually looks very cool, very clean. I would keep them and enjoy the individuality. Must be a bugger to keep clean tho...(need some low brake dust pads)
Re exhaust, dont be shy and do what I did - chop off the rear mufflers and straight pipe into 3" tips. If you dont like it, weld the stock ones back on. But, yes, you will like it

thanks ACB, I agree that the individuality is pretty nice. Probably won't see another white on white anywhere around here. As a matter of fact, I don't think I have ever seen a white one here in Indianapolis. I think the 19s are just the right size as well. Thanks!

White on white is sweet! Carmel Motorsports had a white on white 750 a few months back and it was the most beautiful beast I've ever seen. They refer to that color combo with dark tinted windows as a "Storm trooper." Kinda the reverse as "Murdered out" Good luck with the car and I'm sure I'll see ya around!
