E55 then E63, now back to an E55
06 E55,

I am also disappointed at lack of Alcantera headlining - that is one thing that really bothers me about the CLK Black Series...

and what do you mean "push the button to get car in park" -- I thought there was a console shifter, as opposed to the new S-classes tree shifter with push-button park ? OR.... is the console shifter like the new X5's with Push Button Park (that drives me nuts -- hate hate with a passion. and if driver door is open, it automatically switches out of drive into park) ??

(see my post bottom of last page as well)

I read European reports that say MB will replace the new E63's engine with a more powerful twin turbo V8 this time next year. I'm thinking I might wait...

It is kind of hard to explain about the shifter. The shifter is in the same place as the previous models (as opposed to on the steering column like the non-AMG 2010 models). In order to put the car in park, you push the "P" button down. It is right next to the gear selector (unlike the S class in which it is on the dash near the driver's door)... I don't know what the shifter on the X5 looks like. And I never tried opening the driver door to see if it switches to park or not....

Overall impression of the car... Love the looks of the car from the outside! Love the sound of the exhaust. Love the feel of driving the car and the responsiveness. As far as the inside... I must admit... I am not a fan... I miss the alcantara headliner. The dash looks too much like the C class and just looks cheap... I mean, it is nice... don't get me wrong... But I think my 06 is nicer inside, and honestly, I have always liked the looks of that generation's E class... AMG or not... If I add the options to my car that I am looking for, I think I will skip the 2010 E63... At least until the interior gets some sort of upgrade (including the headliner)... And why does the passenger side not get Drive Dynamic seats???
