Audi RS6 is slow!

New Press release from Audi USA list the 0 - 60 time as 'only' 4.9 seconds.

"With a bi-turbo, 4.2-liter V8 engine, the Audi RS 6 accelerates from 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds, and has an electronically governed top speed of 155 mph. Twin turbochargers, twin pressure-loss optimized intercoolers and five valves per cylinder help develop 415 lb.-ft. of peak torque across a broad range of 1,950 to 5,600 rpm."

And these performance figures stay pretty much the same in the wet as well. Also, you don't have electronics keeping you out of the ditch, rather 4 wheel traction.

The RS6 would certainly be faster if it didn't have the extra weight of 4WD.

Thus, I can only state that the RS6 is fast in real life and that it is a very useable car.

Audi RS6 has ESP - Electronic Stability Program standard. They even used the same title (ESP) which is a trademark of Daimler-Chrysler.

"A Dynamic Damping Control system adds to the ride and handling characteristics of the RS 6, while driving performance is enhanced by a 25-millimeter lower suspension with firmer shocks, springs and stabilizers as compared to the A6. The Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP.) 5.7 with Brake Assist and Brembo. 8-piston brake calipers "

Yup, Audi has been calling it ESP for a while... so I'm guessing MB doesn't have trademark on it.

What? Audi has ESP too? Didn't know that. So guess this means that MB got this trademark from them?

There is a little note at the end of the press release where they say "ESP" a trademark of daimler chrysler corp.
So they do have the trademark.

I drove the RS6, the ESP light hardly ever comes on. However, on Top Gear, I saw JClarkson drive the new E55...guess what, traction control light flickering the whole time.

RS6 slow? .2 secs compared to E55, in the wet...RS6 whoop E55 butt easy

Ok, lets put some things into perspective, the reason the "esp light " doesnt register in the Rs6 is because you are not spinning the tires (AWD, low torque, hehe), the reason you see it in the E55 is because of rear wheel drive and 516 lbs feet of torque smashing the sh** out of the rear tires. Lets again put things into perspective, who drives that fast or need to drive that fast in the rain? The AUDI Rs6 is a great car, Iam not knocking it at all, but out of its league if we are talkin shear torque and acceleration with respect to the E55. Ill take tire spinning any day.

oh yeah, stop comparing 0-60 time, gosh that makes me sick, the real race begins from 80 to whatever, thats when traction is not an issue and we are talking HP, a freaking Grand Cherokee can beat me to 40.

I'd be ashamed if a Grand Cherokee beats me to 40 mph :o :o

I still don't think it can do that on the track or on the street, unless you turn ESP off and spin like nuts.

Who in houston has a V8 Grand Cherokee, I need to check that

I was not really comparing 0-60 times between the RS6 and the E55 when I posted this. I thought this was interesting because all reports I have seen on the RS6 over the last year said that the RS6 time was 4.5 seconds.

Nissan 350Z & Toyota Landcruiser 100 Tdi, i lack a benz...but one day
Yeah a V8 grand cherokee would do pretty well from 0-40mph ....cause i know i draged my Mitsubishi Pajero (montero) V6 against my mates local HSV V8 and i pulled away from 0 to 60km/h....after that HAHAHAHA physics takes over.... the pajero hammers to about 60km/h (whatever that is in mph) the 4wd is just so effective.....i havent driven a normal car with 4wd like the audi..but the power transfer is very direct. so imagine a e55 with 4wd in the wet or even in the DRY!!! with 700nm u can lose traction easily....but id prefer a rwd car as it is more sporty feeling.....
