Taillight tinting on a Tectite Gray E55... opinions?
So I'm considering tinting/smoking the taillights on my Tectite Gray E55.
For reference, here is a picture of the rear of my car as-is.
There are a couple of options I have been considering.
1. Tint the red parts to a darker red, but not black. Leave the clear alone.
2. Tint the clear parts very dark, but leave the red alone. This would look more like the SL-style taillights (see examples below)
3. Buy the E63 replica taillights off eBay, and do option #2. This would look a lot more like the SL-style look.
4. Tint the whole taillight; red just a bit darker, clear very dark. Or vice versa.
I haven't seen any pictures of E's with the clear parts of the tails tinted. I'm also not quite sure how it'd look on a dark gray car. I love the way tinted tails look on a silver or white car, but I've never seen a tectite gray one painted.
Any opinions? Comments? Example pictures?

i got the same color tectic gray E55 i tinted my clear part and left everything alone haven't seen any other cars with it an it looks great have to get some better pics of it. I got the idea from my w210 E55 that had the same idea the white part was smoked (not blacked out) and i think it looks like it was suppost to come on the car. thats my .02 good luck.

Oooo... I like that a lot. You're right, it looks stock. Very clean... How difficult was it to do? Did you tape off the whole light and then cut out sections for the clear parts? Or did you have a shop do it?
I wonder how it would look with the red part of the light slightly smoked (BARELY) and the clear part smoked the way you have it in the picture above.

I vote for tint the red part dark and lightly smoke the clear part. Will look great, post pics of whatever you decide.
