Cadillac V-series challenge..anybody want to bring their AMG/M/RS to challenge?

If a manf. detunes an engine in one model just so it doesn't impact the sales of another model with the same engine, how could you say that it's not really "stock"? I don't know if the C would be able to run with the CTS with a "tune", but it should be given a fair shot. I'm not talking about an aggressive performance tune, I'm just talking about a "factory tune".

I guess you think that because the car does not come from the factory with R888s that this is considered stock as well.
OK, lets play the game.
The V really is a detuned 650HP motor. And the suspension is detuned to accomodate normal people. The tires are detuned racing slicks.

Please provide the order code. Oops, there isn't one. That would imply that it is not stock.

Would you agree that there's a variance with every engine that is assembled regardless of vehicle or manufacturer? Would you also agree that the variance of the 6.3 AMG engine in stock form is a reported 65 to 70hp? Would it be possible for a C63 engine to have that big a variance? Possibly.
I think Mercedes/AMG made a decision that had nothing to do with performance, longevity, ride comfort, emissions, service, warranty, etc.

This has to be driving AMG and BMW M absolutely NUTS!
GM is brilliant on this because they are 100% in control of the brand image they are trying to project. BMW and AMG have no control at all. They are at the mercy of any fool who wants to run.
You do not see AMG or BMW jumping up to do this because anyone can make a cheaper faster car "in the same class". Cadillac is not bad, but it is NOT a BMW or AMG.
Their terms and conditions are set up such that no other auto manufacturer would ever participate. They control all the media. If a driver beats them but has a couple laps that look like crap, those will be in the media.
AMG and BMW must be barfing on this. Audi must be thrilled they don't have anything close so they don't have to be considered.
AMG and BMW brand image in the hands of amatures. GM must be laughing their *** off.
As for thoes who think their E55 would beat that car on a track!! No way. The C63 P30 or E63 P30 are the best chance. Proabably the 2010 E63 would be closest. If it was a drag strip, then yes, I tip my hat to my torquey 55 brothers.

They're well aware of the competition INCLUDING the MY '10 E63, and they've already run the numbers, selected the track, and their own driver. Nobody is going to beat the CTS-V at this competition stock-for-stock. They didn't set this contest up to walk away with egg on their collective face.

I'm pretty sure they have already been testing at the track with their own driver. Meanwhile a local enthusiast shows up to the track COLD. Sure they will give him a few laps. It wont matter because, like Cylinder Head stated. GM has done their homework. This is a brilliant idea... Pro's vs Joe's.

04 - 06 e55 Wagon - looking for
You really think the Caddy is going to hold up to track use? AMG warrantees' the BS even if it's tracked. It's expensive becasue it cost $$$ to build a triangulated seam welded chassis with fully adjustable suspension. The Caddy won't last three sessions at Willow Springs on a 90+deg day.

So I just spent the last 30min trying to find out if/how I can attend this little challenge. I am really curious to see what cars actually go out there.
...I think Porsche should bring out their Panamara to play with the CTS-V...but hey, that's just me.
...anyone with any info on how to go watch this I would be greatly appreciative if you could share the info. thanks.

But the event has nothing to do with a straight line, so you're trying to pound the square peg into the round hole here.
Bottom line is that Caddy is going to milk this short period of time before the next-gen TTV8 M5 is released, because this is their only shot at establishing some sort of superior performance record over either of the relevant competitors. You can't blame them, they're striking while the iron is hot.
Once the new M5 is out all bets are off. Gobs of torque and the chassis engineering that has made all of the ///M cars memorable.

guys. accept the challenge starting the race from 200km to maximum speed. just unlock the 255km limit for the e55 and no CTS-V can beat a stock e55 above 200km.
lo0ol
and stock Cadi maximum speed is 285km whike stock e55 can reach to 307km.
hehehhehe

you wouldn't see those speeds around a track.

It is not yet selling in the US, at least not until Nov.
But as I have stated a number of times on this thread, that it has a really good chance and has beaten it in the UK magazine test.

I think it's safe to assume that if a B5 RS4 Wagon does anything more than get totally obliterated from a CTS-V, it's obviously far from stock.

It is a no win, the Cad and driver will be ringers.
It is a joke, AMG owners don't take the bait.
The only chance anyone has is to put the Cad off in
turn one.
Who want's to be the poster boy for defeat???

What I'm wondering is how you guys think the 212 E63 will beat the CTS-V? It's still pretty underpowered, and I'm sure it doesn't weigh any less. Is it supposed to be that much of a better handler?
