Power Steering Pump making noises
I started my car up this morning and it had the typical supercharger whine that it always does but upon turning out of my driveway, there was a distinct power steering pump whine that got really loud when turning the wheel. It's a little harder to steer when it makes the noise but not unbearable. It seems like it's low on fluid because once i drove a few miles, the sound nearly went away and the steering went back to normal. I'm assuming this is because the fluid got hot and expanded. My question is-where to I check the fluid level at? I apologize if this is in the manual. I'm at the office and my manual is at home.

It's one of the caps next to the oil filter. It's got a little dipstick on it. FYI my dipstick was loose and fell into the reservoir when I was checking mine. Mine did the same thing except for the steering getting rough, the PS pump just got noisy. It was a bit low, filled it up and haven't had a problem in 2 months. I checked the level the other day and it was fine.

dumb question.... but i was having that loud whine and the fluid could barely reach the bottom of the dipstick so i bought some fluid and put way to much in it. puttin that much in it or passing the max line can that make it work harder and make the noise?

If you have over filled it, just use a paper towel to soak up the difference, be careful not to drip the fluid on your paint. But if the power steering is squealing like a pig, it's typically low power steering fulid. Your local delaership will refill it as a courtesy to you, at no charge. I have had them refill my windshield washer fluid, engine coolant early this year.
