Kleeman vs Renntech

Hey guys, just wanted to get your opinion on whether the Kleeman K4 or the Renntech Stage5 is the better way to go. I heard a lot of stuff on youtube as well as other forums that there is a problem with kleeman top end? Could just be a rumor... but i wanted to ask all of you.

What do you mean by better? If money is not relevent then not many can touch what RennTech can do to your car with all of the kinks worked out. But, that isn't for everyone so you tell us what you want in a tuner...

Well my car is going to be a daily driver... so i want some compatible for every day. Also, money really isn't an issue i just heard some rumors that kleeman hasn't really lived up to its name on the K4. Maybe its false information. Just wanted to see if someone had the choice regardless of money which one they would go with for a daily driver..

Money no object I would go with MKB.

I think either way with KM/RT you will get a good package... The gustav video of a K4 or was it 5 getting it's proverbial handed to it by an M still raises many questions for me.... I think that may have been where the rumour started.

Po-tay-toe or Po-ta-tow...to-may-toe or tow-ma-tow.

Both excellent and both highly reputed. Both make excellent products that compliment our cars. I really enjoy speaking with Brandon Grantham (Director of Kleeman) he is a very straight shooter, extremely knowledgeable and he actually works on the cars - he is a talented mechanic as well, not some office sales guy trying to pedal "wares".

I have Kleeman mods on my '06. To say the K4 has not lived up to its reputation is a highly impactful statement call Brandon @ Kleeman and ask him, hear it straight from the Manufacturer, not some wise *** on YouTube or on a forum..c'mon use your dip stick bwoy!

That video might have been staged etc...etc That's been explored in depth here. Problem is people remember it.

I have dealt with Klemann (Denmark) - real shame they dont have a dedicated outlet here in the UK- but in all my dealings with him (Claus) he has been most professional and reliable.

I am actually planning to take a road trip to their setup hopefully very soon to resolve some outstanding issues on my EGS...

Renntech not represented here either so I cannot comment on them but they seem to do good work.

Hey, that video by Gustav is what steered me away from Kleemann mostly because Kleemann Denmark did not respond to it with a good reason (their reason was "gearing of the M6") - the response is somewhere on m5board.com. Even a modded M6 shouldn't be able to keep up with a Stage 4 or 5 E55. I'm glad I went with what I did though as I have yet to run into a willing M6 that can even come close to my Stage 3. I would have to say Renntech is the way to go.

id say that video was staged.
wheni was kleeman stage 2 with cf intake and tubes i was able to pull a few car lengths away on a mildly modded m5 on 80km/h to ~240hm/h hwy runs. if it was from a dig i think it would have been waaay behind me.

yep, when i was kleemann stage 3 i spanked my buddies m5 that had a 3 car headstart. he jumped me because he was tired of me beating him and thought he would get a laugh out of that. he sold the car shortly after...

I have several Renntech products on my car and I've been very happy with both quality and performance of my car. All though I never had the pleasure to line up with a M5 or M6 from a slow roll on I'm sure I would have a good chance of winning that race. I did race a M5 once for a very short distance on the freeway but I stopped because I thought he didn't Punch it....LOL!

I've heard and seen (DerekFSU) that the Kleemann Stage II is the best package out there. Even before he added the NOS it was a fast SOB! Remember that Derek went 10.9 about 3yrs ago. I am sure that Kleemann has gotten better since then with their programming. There have been others that have the LET stage 1 and VRP stage 1 that have run 11.5 or better. I would pm Alan and get to know him and copy what he has done. Anyone that traps over 130mph in the 1/4 I would want to talk to. If you are worried about top end then you may want to talk to him.

Video aside, lets look at the times being put down and the statement from OP that $ is not an issue.

I understand and believe that the Kleeman ('03) tune on a Kleeman stage whatever can beat an M5. we are confusing the issue by going back to that video. That is irellevent when we have so many RennTech and Kleeman cars here that we can compare.

Agreed that MKB would be the route if money is truly no concern. I still stand by the statement that RennTech > Kleeman.

In regards to this question you need to ask yourself a few questions.

1. Who is going to be doing your installation?

2. Do you have a local shop that provides either one of the companies?

3. How far do you want to go into the motor, as the K4 will include cams, while the RENNtech pgk5 provides an airbox.

If you are going for the most power, then you will want to go with RENNtech pgk5, as you can get the RENNtech Extreme pulley, ECU, 82mm TB, 82mm airbox, and headers.

However, the Kleemann k4 is only $6780 which provides the 168 pulley, headers, 80mm TB, and cams.

Give us a call if you have any questions.

Sorry to go off topic here (and I really dont want to start another bash at that video) - I might be going to Kleemann DK soon and will show it to them .

I wonder if they started playing with diff ratios after that point in time.....

I cannot say anything bad about Kleemann, I want the video more as a joke for Claus in DK than anything else....

Watched the video again ... and have to say the M6 only passed the K4 (which is not 640hp as the video states) at around 250km/h (thats around 155mph) and it passed it very slowly. The K5 is 630hp....

The K4 put 2-3 car lengths on the M6 immediately... wierd I seem to remember it getting demolished ... not the case at all.

I am not even sure the car in the video is a real E55. It does not have E55 side skirt from the video I saw. Only Kleemann sticker, it might be a E500 or E320 Kleemann tuned.

Both vendors seem reputable. James brings up a very valid point. Who is doing the install and servicing your vehicle? This could very well be the deciding factor.

BTW running Renntech near 50k miles and loving it.

Well thanks for all the input guys. Yes the real question would be who would be doing my installation. I have two options... I live in San Diego, CA. I have a family friend who is a mechanic owning "Exclusive Motors" (Mercedes Specialty) shop off Miramar road. And then i have the other option of Group5motorsports. And thank you James - Automotive Connoisseur Group Inc of San Diego ill be sure to give you a call when i decide

I am looking at all my options and trying to get the best idea of what each company has to offer. Thank you for all the input gentlemen

With you being in San Diego, feel free to stop by.

We are located in Kearny Mesa, near the 52, 163, and 805 freeways.

I also have the RENNtech extreme pulley in stock if you would like to see it in person.

Also don't forget about us as an option for your installations, we are the recommended installers for both Kleemann and RENNtech for San Diego.
