Anybody here belong to this car? If this is real, I've got an 05 wagon with 7k fewer miles same options minus the Kleeman stuff that I'll sell for this.......

Current bid with 1 day left = $45,601

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RARE-...item4149c0d9be

Here's mine:

Well, maybe I won't sell it since it's my CFO's car......

That's ridiculous. I just saw an 05 go through the auction and it sold for 26k.

05 wagon?? that is highway robbery, Wagon is very rare car. $45k might be on expensive side, but low mileage wagon is hard to find

I don't have my black book in front of me right now but I think 05 wagons wholesale in the 26-28k range. Clean wholesale might be 30k but that's just a guess. I can check tomorrow.

I know for sure it was an 05 silver E55 wagon with black interior. I believe the mileage was in the 60-70k range. I saw it, it was in good shape.

These two are not wagons but this gives you an idea. While Wagons may be "rare" that does not necessarily mean they bring more money at the dealer auction. Your market for people who want wagons is far less than those who want sedans. Just my experience.

miles alone would warrant a lower price.

perhaps a dealer auction you're correct. if this auction is for real it seems a bit different for low mileage 55 wagons in an unusual color (the subject car is capri blue)?

I agree with both of you. In fairness both of you are comparing these market apple to oranges. It's unfair to compare dealer pricing to private pricing. The dealers always need to make a profit to stay in business. While a private owner only want to sell their car for a fair price. Dealer auction (wholesale) pricing should not even be considered since it’s only available to license buyer. That's my .02 cent

All I will say is there isn't a 17K markup on a 26k car. Cars are typically marked up 4-8k depending on the situation. While that may be a "rare" color, that does not affect the price. I was just offering the auction prices as a guide to compare against. If you apply the rule above you should be able to find a wagon in the low 30k range. My 02.

Also a 20k mile difference on an 05 wagon is not going to adjust the price and significant amount.

I had sent the seller a message through Ebay, he was hoping to get $38k for it. I didn't think he would get that, so am definitely surprised to see this price. More power to him, he seemed like a really nice guy and I am glad to see him do well on the sale.

If the dealer doesn't have to transport the car, detial it, make any repairs your 4-8k might be reasonable to how many dealers are located next to the auction site, buy a clean car or buy one that doesn't need something? I disagree about the color assumption. Rare desireable colors DO add value. Let me know when you see an 05 E55 wagon for $30k......... Not for a while I suspect.

Perhaps not to you but to most people it would. I would look for lower miles and expect to pay more for it. BTW, it's more like 20-30k miles.........

Apparently I look at cars differently. My take is pretty black and white. A cars "worth" to me is what the black dealer book says it's worth. There are NO price adjustments for color, EVER. You may want to pay more for a capri blue car but to me it's still an E55 wagon. I would probably pay less for that color just b/c it's not my favorite. YOU might pay alot more for a car with 20-30k less miles but at a dealer auction there is not a HUGE difference between an E55 with 40k and one with 60k. Just my experience.

Chuck Z, yep definitley right on the 4-8k markup if everything is pretty clean with no major repairs. Basically clean and flip. However, the MB dealerships will mark up the same car about 10k b/c they put on new tires, inspection, etc...

wow guys, all talks without clear understanding of what are you talking about. Demand and supply. econ 101. https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...confirmed.html

Less than 100 cars were sold in this country. so go figure. It is your personal choice if you are willing to spend extra $10k for a rare car.

I would love a black wagon... I think I might stoplight race a little more though. Would love to see the look on the faces of all the mustangs and subies faces.

crap shoot on the "pretty clean with no major issues" I'm guessinig you're talking about private party flip here and what about transportation from the auction site? You drive it away I guess?

Dealer black book is worth about the paper it's printed on........ Especially in todays economy.

Acording to your logic if an E55 wagon is pink, is it worth EXACTLY what a black E55 wagon would be worth? It's still and E55 wagon...... I think to a lessor degree the same holds true for less offensive colors. Perhaps not at an auction but certainly at retail.

Make not a huge diff at auction on a 20-30k mile diff but there sure will be at retail..... BTDT numersous times.

So the subject car ends at $46,100. How would you explain that?

There are actually 169 2005 E55 wagons in the US. There was a website somewhere but I cannot find the link right now.

How can I explain that people are willing to spend too much for a car? I have no idea. I only know what the silver 05 E55 wagon sold for here in Indianapolis....26k. I also know the guy that bought and resold it and he got 33k for it. As far as I know Mercedes does not make a pink E55 wagon. Who is to say whether a color is cool vs. offensive? It's all a matter of personal preference. So you are saying that with everything the exact same, cars with different colors are worth more or less money? So a black E55 wagon is more or less expensive than a silver one? I don't think so. Not trying to argue with you dude, you can spend as much as you want on a car makes no difference to me. I'm just telling you that someone got taken @ 43K.

Dealer black book not worth the paper it's printed on? Surely you jest. I've been going to the auctions for a long time and I can tell you you are mistaken.
