Like I mentioned in my first post, the Kleemanns are drop in cams with no other mods necessary, while the SLR's are not & require some mods to fit and work. Performance wise, I think the SLR's are a bit better, but probably not worth the effort. For max performance, go with the PTE/VRP cams, but they will require retuning to function well.

i just swapped in some E55 cams in my C55 and I gained zero HP. Man I thought I would have picked up some thing or moved the power around. But I got nothing. I might have to try some SLR cams next. Or get a set made to my custom specs.

I've heard theres minor differences between n/a 55 cams and 55K cams.
I'm in the process of upgrading to PTE cams.
Curious to see what gains I get over my 55K cams (post tuning if necessary).

I would and will put my money into porting heads verses the cams specs I have seen floating around so far. Of course, it will take the perfect head porter and one that truly cares about velocity over flow numbers on paper..

why are the e55 cams so expensive. $2.5k + for a set of v8 cams....and i have yet to see a solid before/after cam dyno to show real gains. i have however seen a car make 10 more whp as my car with SLR cams and same torque....on same dyno, same day.

hey
I will fit the cams in my self , i will do a dyno before and after with the cams and keep you updated,
It will be a few weeks before i fit my mods to the car as its still in the body shop,
I got a spare set off heads which i will port, but again thats a on going mission.

Aftermarket cams for MB
The OEM cam is a Chilled Cast Iron 1 piece. Economical to make and long life span. Why Mercaeds gets the money they ask , is beyond me
$1275.00 apiece for SLR cams. Limited Production Maybe
. I can explain way our cams cost more. There are tons of SB Chevy single cam Motors & lot of aftermarket Manufactures for all kinds of cam Grinds. Just a big Market for a Single cam in block motor. COMP Thumper series $295.95
Mercedes M-113 motor has 2 overhead cams
#1 Hollow Billet steel
#2 The lobe blanks are pressed into place & Move to their close reference spot
#3 Then the lobes are furnaced brazed into that spot
#4 Lobes are Ground to spec
#5 Induction Hardened
Very labor intensive . But an excellant product for a limited product, 50 set run. None of the US aftermarket Manufactures wanted to do a small Batch
Then there is Export / Import duties . Shipping from Europe ,Then shipping to you. Insurance to protect you & me.You can add the Numbers up, $795. Euro times 2 cams + Shipping & duties X 1.5 average exchange rate. I wish there was a easier way. Cheers __PTEngineering

No Power increse from 55K cams
Hooley, I do believe you saw no increase , When going from N/A cams to 55K cams. There just is not enough difference between the two cams. There was not enough difference in LIFT or were valve start to open to make a great torque or HP increase.
When I was doing my own testing on my N/A 55 & on Rflow 306's E-55K. We installed a set of SLR cams & only saw 11 HP on a N/A motor & 16 HP on a 55K motor . all at the rear wheel. A while back somebody had a cam Doctor checker plot done on N/A 55 & 55K , Maybe one of our forum members can search under ( DAMN CAMS) Please remember the Rocker arm ratio is 1.49 to 1 The 1st Attached, is Rflow306 Stock cam V/S SLR cam dyno sheet. The 2nd Attachment is a print spec sheet from a Cam doctor Blue is N/A 55 , Red is 55K , Black is Schrick off the shelve. which is No longer stocked by Schrick . Happy reading__PTEngineering

SL55 AMG
Patrick so there is a difference and the cams you made specifically for the AMG - 55K engines are different than say a non-S/C 55 engine. This being the case looks like your PTE cams are the most aggresive and highest hp/tq yeilding cams, correct? This is in comparison to any schrick varient which are Evosport's or Kleemens (from what I understand these are the same)...and the SLR is slightly more aggresice than the shrick but not as high yeilding as your PTE cams...right?

Hey PTE thanks for the info ... I dont see the schrick specs on the second attachment... ???
How much more lift / duration do the schricks have? In your opinion how much power do they make?

2nd attachment
Stevebez; The second attachment , I did a cut & paste of Schricks Catilog. It is even milder than a N/A cam. It was a grind for M-113 4.3s & 5.0s
Sunir: I tried to cover N/A 5.5 & 5.5 K with one grind spec. So there is no difference . You are on the money with your synopsis. Just the Schick was a cam built 4.3s & 5.0s for as stated to Stevebez.
I also found the dyno sheet for Rflow306 E-55 with the VRP/PTE cams . It showed a 10 rwhp over the SLR cams & 26 rwhp over the stock cams. No changes were made in the ECU tune Rflow 306 got from Active Autowerke, the BMW tuner in south Miami.. After some fuel was added to the upper RPM band we found another 8 rwhp and buzzed the motor to 6900 rpm. Cheers _PTEngineering
