My new LET Tune

https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...et-tune-5.html

Take a look at my dyno graph Jerry posted it in the C63 section for them to look at post #120 and my reply post #121 . I'm very happy with it to say the least just waiting on some good headers to throw on! Let me know what you think.

Your 63 dynoed at 365 stock now tuned 425? This is an E63 as per your signature?

Whatever we're tuning!
Recently dyno'd 2 bone stock 63's and got these numbers:

09 MB CLS 63: 404rwhp SAE corrected, smoothing 5 on a Dynojet

08 MB E 63: 407rwhp SAE corrected, smoothing 5 on a Dynojet

Same dyno and same day.

You put down only 365rwhp?

Those are C63 numbers!

Post #120 that the OP alluded to was on a Dynojet!

Exactly!

Still C 63 numbers regardless of dyno used!

I know the numbers were low on my base line, I have had the car for about 7 months and for some reason always felt it was underpowered. Also from reading through the threads and looking at peoples track times I took it to the track on street tires and the best I could get was an 8.6 on an 1/8 mile track. I have DR's coming in soon and I will be taking it back out when I can to see if there was improvement there as well.

You've been back to the track since tuned, correct? What was your best street tire time and trap speed post-tuning?

Nice looking results, regardless - the only "nit-pick" I'd mention is the 14:1 AFR's at WOT. That's leaner than I'd want for my own vehicle, but YMMV naturally.

Yes I went; but honestly I did 3 runs and left my tires would not hook up, I would just sit and spin the tires. My best time was 8.7 my reaction time was .6853 but my 60ft time 2.0869 my tires would not hook up.

Your right about the AFR's Jerry is going to let me know what he wants to do when he see's my car in Dallas when he comes. Maybe he can squeeze some more HP's out of it for me

Totally understand that traction's a greater challenge as HP/TQ goes up. Sounds like it's cost you a tenth in the 1/8th, which is understandable on your same street tires.

What might be better to look at are your trap speeds. What trap speed did you see on your 8.6 stock run vs. your 8.7 tuned run?

I'm still a newbie to the racing lingo, is trap speed the the MPH at the end? If so mine were for the 8.6 run 84.21mph 8.7 run 84.19 mph.

Yep, the MPH at the end.

Track results, and specifically trap speed, are considered by many to be the "asphalt dyno." Even if you can't hook properly on the launch (resulting in a so-so 60' and ET) your trap speed should be noticeably higher when your power level goes up. So not only did your ET go down a tenth, the trap speed dropped a little as well - even after +60 rwhp and +69 rwtq. Curious...

+1

With a 60 rwhp and 69Rwtq you should have seen a noticeable gain in your traps. Was weather conditions similar? Every single time I've been to the dyno for tuning I've always generated better ET's and traps. I don't know about 1/8 times for E63's but 8.6 seems high .

Good luck and get back to the trap when you get your DR's.

E55
In all honesty, I have never even heard of a NA motor, MB or otherwise, picking up 60WHP /69WTQ from just a tune, on pump gas to boot. Those would be strong #'s for a pulley and tune on an E55.
If you have the stock dyno pull could you post it? Maybe the dyno operator hit the mph limiter or something else which affected your stock #'s.

maybe he is not that good of a driver yet You need to practice so much that people will think that you are Allen Iverson

Totally agree - skill/practice will bring down the 60' and ET's. Shouldn't affect trap speed much though - in fact, as his ET gets lower from hooking better, it's pretty common that the trap will actually fall a bit.

I'm surprised by the lower (basically identical) trap speed - I was expecting him to say "8.6 @ 84 stock, but 8.7 @ 87 tuned" or something like that... +60/69 @ the wheels is certainly significant. Ah well, it is what it is, right? Don't mean to analyze it to death.

It was only my second time to the track so yea I'm still learning. The second time I went was during the day (upper 70's) vs. at night (upper 50's) on the first time the weather might have something to do about it? I will be going back out with the DR's and the wheels I bought from Prodigymb. Hopefully next week if the weather holds out. Stay tuned I will post up my times, for you guys to let me know what I'm doing wrong or what I can do better.

Good luck and the set of DR's you just purchased from Prodigy will definitely help out. You'll still need some seat time to get used to the new setup.

A TTM built E63 that made 464rwhp ran consistent 7.8's in the 1/8 at 92+mph at Atco and those were with only 1.8X 60' times. Bad DA day.

Practice makes perfect so seat time is the key right now.........and your new slicks! Good luck!

Thanks, can you tell me a few of the mods that E63 had; short or long tube headers, crank pulley etc.

Thanks again

he bought my 18x9.5 wheels and will use the 265 Mickey.

my Nitto drag radials are more of street (drag) race tire rather then a track tire like the mickeys
