While searching for a fix for another member I have come across a blog dedicated to MB Star and it has 8 pages of how to's images and tutorials, as well as common problems with star units and how to go about fixing/updating them etc
Far too much info for me to copy and paste here so here is the link
Technical - http://blog.mbstarshop.com/category/...upport/page/3/
Software - http://blog.mbstarshop.com/category/...tware-service/
The number 3 in the URL is the page number (last page at time of posting this is page 8), you can just change that to say 5 or 6 etc if you don't want to navigate through the "older posts" - "newer posts"
Around page 6-5 downwards it starts getting into tweaks for example a few are
gas tank mod
fan mod
lowering
seatbelt chime
tv/dvd while driving
SBC
Speed Limiter
Transmission
Telephone
TPMS
How to Chip your Multiplexer
the list goes on, it's a good read
* Mods if the link is not allowed on this site please remove this post
There seems to be quite a few STAR posts popping up so I hope this helps

Star diagnostic
So I thought I would help out a few MB brothers with a couple star diagnostic tutorials...
First, Lowering the car.
Get to the 211 Section
You will get to the main menu
Then go to Func perf by more than...
Then Chassis
Then Level adj
Then Suspension
And here is where people have problems, they just go to actuations and then lower it, IT WILL NOT STAY LOWERED this way, you have to go to initial startup
Then Initial with manual settings
Then F2
Here you will see a screen that shows the voltages which correspond to the height of the vehicle. they must be within the given ranges in the left hand column. use the + and - buttons to lower the car (In my screenshot I am in the car with a friend in the back seat, so that is why it is at 3.27, it should not exceed 3) Then hit F2
Enter in these inclination angles and if the car is within the voltages supplied in the page before, the car will accept the new lowered setting, if not it will reject it.
Now, how to activate the unlock and lock beep (honestly, one of the best mods to do if you have an older model e55 )
First Control units
Then Body
Then rear SAM
Then Control unit adaptations
Then national version of ATA function
At this screen you will see a pull down menu with a list of different regions on it. The only ones you need to worry about are USA with buzzer and Netherlands. If you choose USA, i will give you three short quick beeps when you lock the car and one short when you unlock it. Netherlands will give you three longer beeps when you lock the car and one long when you unlock it. Personal preference on which one you like. Then hit F3
Then F3(YES)
Hope this helps out some people. I really did not find a good DIY for Star Diagnostics, so I thought I would help out!
Thanks
Aleks

Might of found out today why my rain sensor wasnt working.
There is a setting for the light/rain sensor menu to change the glass type from the factory blue tint to whatever your car might have. In my case the front windscreen's been replaced with clear so i set it to clear.
So with a bit of luck my rain sensor might work all the time now rather than when it felt like it before.
Anybody else on here with Japanese car found any interesting stuff? The menus are slightly different in these cars for certain things like command and such and its hard to find some settings.

Star unit
This will allow the fan to turn on earlier to cool the engine sooner than stock.
First go to Control Units
Then Drive
Then ME 2.8
Then Control Unit adaptations
[IMG]http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k246/aleksandar1099/IMG_0329.jpg[/IM
Then Correction Programing
Then Electric Suction Fan
Then Hit F4 until it changes to -10 and hit F2

E55 w/ goods, Z32 Project underway
When I run into this I either pull fault codes (even thought none are present) or back completely out of the program and go back in. I'm always able to read the codings after the above step(s).

Ok tried what you guys said and still dont see them. I can click on the menu and see my options. For example 0224 for speed limit...box is empty but if I click on it everything comes up for options and I can pick what I want and it will put it in the empty window.
I'm afraid if I load it in and all the rest of the boxes are empty it will clear them out to nothing. What could be wrong? It used to work fine.

They solution is right in front of you. This is one of many reasons why I charge people for working on their car with SD. Knowing what you are doing is important here. You don't wanna make an expensive mistake.

Anyone have info of how to remove or rice Vmax? I can't select more than 250kph in dragbox number 224? Why is that? Should I change something else somewhere? I have searched whole this topic with no luck. Any help please?

You can't change it to more than 250 km/h because it's a non-AMG vehicle. AMG vehicles can be changed to 300 km/h via Star Diagnosis. And if you want more than that you need to find a tuner who can modify the ECU with modified software.
That's the help you asked for!

Little you know about Star Diagnosis, namely none, zero.

Exactly. I'm not helping when it comes to Developer stuff. Too many people who claim they are the experts call me up after they ****ed up their cars to fix it again. Some bricked their expensive ECU, others ****ed up their AC or SAM or COMAND. If I would be the mod in this forum I would have deleted this thread a long time ago. There is a reason why Dev. Access is/was restricted to only the engineers and designers of the cars and not available to mechanics at dealerships and people like the ones here.
I said it many times before and I continue saying it: Developer access is no toy on the playground unless you have money to waste when it happens.
