Brake Flush Cost

Hi Dudes. New owner of a 2006 E55 here. Not new to Benz; this is my 6th one in a row - a 123, two 124s, two 210s, and now a 211.

Got a question. As is usual when buying a used car, I went through the records to identify any deferred maintenance that needs catching up. The only item on this car was a brake fluid flush. I had a local well renowned indy shop perform the service along with mounting tires and an alignment. They charged $377.09 for the brake flush.

I am in shock.

I am under the impression changing the brake fluid on the 211 AMG is pretty much the same as any other Benz with SBC. Put the car on a lift, hook up the SDS, and bleed each corner. Yeah, it has two bleed nipples on the front calipers, so charge me an extra 10 minutes.

How much are y'all paying?

Following up to close off this thread. I had a chat with the shop foreman today. He indicated they do the brake flush by the book; there are several steps required to fully flush the system including the SBC unit. The process requires a few hours of time.

If you paid only ~$125, then you didn't get the entire job. For that price, they just hooked up a pressure bleeder and did all four corners of the car. Better than nothing, but not doing it right.

Whatever we're tuning!
The SBC brake system needs to be done with SDS and it does take a lot of time.

Even though that price is a little high it seems to have been done correctly.

Good luck with your new beast!

06 E55, 03FORD P/S,01 E320-4M,99 ML320,O4 E55,05 RUBICON UNLIMITED,
IN ORDER TO DO A CORRECT BRAKE FLUSH ON ANY SBC CAR YOU NEED TO HAVE A SPECIAL ELECTRICAL BRAKE BLEEDER PUMP THAT IS ADJUSTABLE ALONG W/ AN SDS.ALSO A BATTERY CHARGER SHOULD BE CONNECTED TO THE BATTERY.ON AMG CARS THE WHEELS HAVE TO COME OFF SO YOU CAN BLEED/FLUSH BOTH SIDES OF THE CALIPERS AND NOT RUIN YOUR WHEELS.MOST PLACES JUST CONNECT AN OLD SCHOOL BLEEDER AND DO A CONVENTIONAL FLUSH,WHICH MEANS LESS COST.ALSO WHEN YOU GET THIS SERVICE DONE THEY SHOULD BE CHECKING IF YOUR SBC NEEDS TO BE PROGRAMMED AND HOW IS THE SERVICE LIFE OF THE UNIT.PROGRAMMING SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER ELW/CPO/BASE WARR. NORMAL CHARGES FOR A FLUSH SHOULD BE 1-1.5 HOURS,BUT HAVE THE SERVICE LIFE CHECKED FIRST,THAT WAY IF YOU NEED A NEW SBC PUMP,WARRANTY PAYS FOR THE FLUSH.211 SBC ENDED IN 06,07 AND NEWER HAVE ABR.

That's a good price, you figure the oil is $150 the cabin filter is $50 so you got the brake fluid for $200. Plus MB did the work!

They wanted $600 at first!! I told them they were nuts and that I would go to an indy and he agreed to meet the price. It's a different world out there now. The stealerships want to do all they can to stay in the customers good graces...

That's also why brake rotors that used to cost $800 a piece are now $110 form the stealership! Hell it's almost like maintaining a Ford Tarus these days.......ok well maybe not that cheap!

Thanks for all the input.

The shop I that charged $377.09 for my brake flush is Autoscope, in Plano, TX. I have seen that they post on this forum (and are a sponsor? - no sure.)

As always, the quality of their work is superb. However, if they are going to charge far above dealer rates, I think I'll just go to the dealer, save some money, and get a loaner car to drive.

LOL I have found that routine maint. is close to the same price anywhere and I would rather have the MB recipt. Plus like you said, you get a loaner!

Indianapolis dealership quoted me about 277.00 I believe. Lafayette couldn't even do it! The dealer also suggested that this should be preformed every two years. It showed up in the print out that I made the dealer give me when I can my B service done. The Lafayette dealer didn't even suggest having this done because they didn't have the proper tools to complete the job.
