Help! Driver side low beam out
2004 E55 with lighting package. I assume that means Xenon. I've searched the forum and not much info on DYI or procedures.
Obviously my car is out of warranty and I have not purchased extended warranty.
The stealership says $240 for just the lamp. Yout thoughts or recommendations are appreciated.
What's the current word on a good aftermarket warranty?
Thanks in advance

Swapping bulbs are easy. It's tight in there, but relatively simple. Pop the hood and take a look in there, you should be able to figure it out in under a minute.
From memory, I believe it's a cap that you twist and the bulb comes out along with it.
Check with the sponsors on here for replacement bulbs for cheaper than the stealer.

You should be able to find stock replacement (Philips P/N 85122, 4300k) bulbs for pretty cheap around the internet. ~$50, just google it.
From what I understand though, the stock type bulbs are known to color-fade/shift as they get older in age so the new bulb might not match the old bulb.

Unfortunately, often times when Xenons fail it is not the bulb. You can try switching the bulbs (left to right) to see if that is the problem. Keep in mind that you run the risk of blowing the other (passenger) bulb when putting it in the driver’s side if there is a more serious problem. I did this once safely, but was then cautioned by an MB tech that I could have blown the good bulb depending on what was wrong with the failing xenon.
The xenon system has many components. I don’t know all of them, but I do know the starter and ballast are often the culprit when there is a failure.
Good luck

Update
So I bought two 8000K D2C off of Ebay for $50. As I am installing them, i noticed the harness was loose if not unplugged. Son of a #$#2. I got a ticket for this. Not sure how it came unplugged. Anyhow, I went ahead and installed the new ones. Love the bluish tint they have. Ordered the LED ones for the running lights. Will post results

I have the chrysler aftermarket warranty and Im not sure if they cover this kind of thing so just checking my options.
