I test drove a 09 E63 today
I test drove a new 2009 E63 (not 2010) today. The MSRP was 97K. No P3 option as you can tell by the price. The P3 option seems to be popular on this forum but I have been unable to find any cars with the option available. Anyhow, I was impressed. The car is very fast and the exhaust note is great. I currently own a 2006 M3 Competition Package. I am looking at a E63 because my family wants a four door car. The car seems very large compared to the M3. I drove with the suspension system set to Sport2. This setting seemed about right. You guys were absolutely correct. This car is everything my M3 is not! Although the MSRP was 97K I am sure I could have gotten greater than 20K off MSRP. The car had a four year warranty which had already started ticking 9/1/09????? They said they did this so they could take advantage of the rebate from MB. I guess this is how you can get so much off MSRP. I think this car would be a better deal if bought used with less than 30K miles on the ODO. There are alot of very nice cars you can get from 97K.

The 15K rebate from MB expired as of 9/1/09. Apparently, they are showing the car sold as of that date. Yes, you will be able to get nearly $30K off the $97 MSRP.

Got $28K off MSRP ($98K+) three weeks ago on a Flint Grey E63. The stealership had also put the car "in service" as of September.
And I had a heck of a time deciding between the 63 and the CTS-V that I drove back-to-back. The CTS-V has nicer, more communicative steering and a better-sorted transmission than the E63, but all in all, the E is a better car. But if I hadn't gotten close to $30K off the 63, it would have been the CTS-V.
I can't imagine what the people are thinking that paid close to sticker several months ago. Some Ebayers are still hoping for $70K+ for used '09's...

It's the newer hard drive based unit...Better controls, more interactive...It's has bluetooth for phones, the nav is worlds better and easier to update...The 10 soft buttons on the sides are gone too...It's a lot like the brand new E W212 and C-Class, but without the controller on the center console...

fwiw, people (me included) were getting anywhere from 25-29k off this past spring on 2009s. So, incentive should be even better to get them off the lots now at the end of the year.

Also, I noticed the other day that my car was built 06/08-- 1-1/2 years ago. It was delivered to my dealer in 06/09, so it was sitting around somewhere for a year. I suspect in Irvine, CA on the old El Toro Marine airbase. Saw 1000's of MB's parked there when I flew over several months ago. MB must have built a cr@pload of cars before they figured out the economy tanked.

The bluetooth is very nice. But the nav worlds better? I'd hate to see the earlier version. The new one is still not as nice to use as a basic Garmin. I still need to program the VC to my voice. Right now, it misunderstands a lot of commands.

The VPC for MB is in Carson. They have MBs stashed all over the place. Anywhere they can get space for them.

c63 vs. e63 drive
Can anyone here comment on the c63. I know this is a e63 board but I am leaning more toward the e63 and want to hear what you guys think. The salesperson recommended the c63 after I complained about how large the e63 felt compared to my M3. The interior of the c63 looked a step below the e63 in quality and attention to detail. I know they are two completely different phones but my initial goal was to get another performance sedan but with four doors.

Before I bought my E63, I originally was interested in the C63. I test drove one that happened to have the AMG race package (or whatever the option is called) and found the suspension ridiculously stiff. I mean to the point where there was no compliance to small undulations at all, so the ride was just... jiggly, I guess you could say. Also, the seats had such huge side bolsters that they got in the way of operating the shifter. Told the salesman that, and he recommended the E63 instead. Well, I drove the E and that car pretty much fixed all the shortcomings of the C63 and then some. And with the huge discount on the E63, that pretty much sealed the deal.
