The other day I was at a stoplight in the far right lane of a three lane road. I noticed a yellow Carrera behind me who then pulled to my left just next to me at the light (I know most people do that because they want to beat the other cars to Ralphs on the right side of the road so I suspected he wanted to do the same. People in Anaheim Hills are pretty aggressive drivers).
I told my sister-in-law to hold on and to put a lid on her coffee cup. I put the transmission in sport and 1st gear. When the light turned green we both punched it at the same time.
In first gear I pulled on him so he was about a half car length behind me. On the next gear change he was starting to fade. We reached about 75mph in this short run and of course we missed the turn-in into Ralphs.
I don't know much about Porsches (aside from turbos) but I know the non-turbo versions have less than 400 hp so I was expecting to pull a few car lengths on him. However it was a very short race so I suppose if we went a full quarter-mile or more I would have pulled on him more.
This was the closest race I've had so far. I've murdered SRT8s (300Cs, Chargers, and Jeeps), 350Zs/G35s, stock and lightly modded Camaros and Mustangs, modded 535, and a few others I can't remember.

Today I spotted a white M3 coupe at the Mobile station (Weir & Serrano) but it didn't catch my eye (your modded M3 definitely would've). It was stock. I was getting cigs there and he revved his engine a lot as he pulled to the pump. I remember seeing that guy accelerating hard in the 24 Hour Fitness parking lot.
I'm sure he loved hearing my uncorked 6.2 accelerate hard onto Weir Canyon.
Do you know who owns that yellow Porsche I was referring to in my original post? Sometimes I see it parked in front of Latte Da Cafe. I'm curious as to the specs on that car.

I'm sure you will spank my 63 just as easily.

I did have a run in on the way home in Mexico with a white lowered E63 though...

With that being said, the GTR is faster all the way thru now that its modded. It was always faster from a dig but now its even formidable up top to speeds circa 160-170mph. Its a great 2nd, 3rd, or 4th car but its not a daily driver IMHO. Its a big car too, weighs in around 4k lbs and the body is very big. Its a great project car and I really enjoy the looks. Im glad I have it in my garage but its not first choice.

I dont drive the IS-F... maybe 5 times in 6 months but the M3 is the better handler IMHO. The IS-F is too bouncy and handles the soft and harder undulations not as well. Its not forgiving enough at times. Its still a great handling car but not to the level of the M3.

I would go for the M3 or C63 since there is a better aftermarket for those cars. Also, I think the IS-F looks tame and the exhaust tips look weird compared to the M3 and C63.

Agreed. This was hardly a "weaving in and out inches from bumpers in rush hour with kids on board" story so to chastise the OP is pure hypocrisy given that everyone here exceeds the posted limit on occasion.

While I'm not familiar with Thunderhill, you beat the driver, nothing more. The E55 is a good car but far from the paragon of handling and control. Good driving though.
