I also do not think alot of mechanics know what they think they know. I was talking to the AMG mec. at Crown MB when my car was being star lowered last week and he told me that a bigger pully will never make more power because the dump valve will always maintain the lower stock PSI by opening and dumping the extra boost. I was like . Needless to say I did not continue the conversation on pullies.

ok. I got a call from MB this morning and this is what they state:
The aftermarket pulleys had wiggle room which caused the wearing out of the crank seal. They are replacing the crank seal and back to stock.

I dont think thats the caused I think they just dont want to put that pulley on and want to charge you more labor and the money to buy a OEM pulley.

When I had a 180 pulley put on, the installer slid the pulley too far on to the shaft. It cut the seal. The inside of the pulley had minor scratches on it from making contact with the seal. The leak was very small but noticeable the very next day. I had the seal replaced and the 180 pulley put on right the second time.
It would be interesting to inspect the inside of the aftermarket pulley. It has to come of anyway to repair the seal if that turns out to be the problem. If the pulley cut into the seal there should be some marks on it.
Good luck

if this is true. The only time i saw a pully wiggle is when it was installed wrong and came loose. But this cause a big mess. Honestly they are pretty hard to install wrong they are keyed on to the crank ** remove old one** clean snub ** aplly light oil** slide on to crank linning the key up** torque to 200nm then 90 degress .. Its a basic install
