Oh man that's a crazy picture, makes me pretty scared though. Take a car apart to that extent, and it just won't be the same again, whether good, bad, or indifferent. Hope it goes well, I had half the dash out of my 535 once, not something I want to do again soon, that's for sure. +1 on covering up the seats, don't want any grease or god forbid, tears.

WTF? This is a common problem? What exactly is the cause of having to change the evaporator out?
That poor lovely interior.
Hopefully it'll be as rigid and nothing will be "sacrificed".

Common problem? Not sure. All I know is that I had that putrid smell from the AC whenever I would start it up every time, especially in the summer. The car is originally from Texas. I tried the full dealer wynn's treatment and even changed out the filter myself and also sprayed that German foam stuff deep inside the vents to kill the mildew. No help. Had to come to this.
So, it's back together, but still at the dealership awaiting a "test drive" to see if has any rattling, interior noise, etc. as we got hit with a blizzard here on the day I was supposed to pick it up. ![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
I gotta tell you, I had a bad dream about that freakin car the night after I saw the photo. Kinda funny. We'll see what happens....

*UPDATE*
Got the car back from the dealership and looked her over real close as well as put her through a good test drive over many bumps.
No rattles, squeaks, or any other noises and car appears to be as perfect as ever.
I really can't believe it, but I'm ecstatic!
