Evaporators are hidden deep on just about all cars. No fun.

Be ready for some brand new dash squeaks and rattles, LOL.

That's like shattering a wine glass and trying to reassemble it with super glue. My stomach hurts now!

That looks scary. Hope all goes well. Let us know if there are new squeaks and sqeals after the job because I am riding heatless at the moment and have been dragging my feet on getting it fixed under warranty.

Tell them to put a cover on the seats before they decide to lay tools on them.

Doesnt look all bad though. If the same person is doing the entire job then I wouldn't worry about it at all. A few years ago I rebuilt the interior of my Maxima after it flooded, looked like this:

Ugly for sure and I've been through that will almost every MB I've owned and I've owned a lot of them. I was told once by an SA that MB is well aware of the problem with their anemic A/C systems in tropical climates but it's cheaper to fix under warranty than to re-engineer the system.

They are never the same again.

Car free at the moment
I replaced the evaporator myself on an old 124 wagon I owned. It's not actually all that difficult. More tedious than challenging. No leftover parts, and the car was more solid and quiet after than before. I wouldn't worry about having this done - other than paying the labor!

I had the dash taken out of my Tundra twice and eventually traded it in because the rattling was so bad.. This makes my skin crawl!
