Has anyone run a 556hp/551tq CTS-V?

We had a CTS-V drive about 100 miles to come out and run with us at our get together. I was the only one he raced and even though he got the jump, I stopped his pull and reeled him in pretty fast.

On Christmas Eve, I ran into another one! We ran about 4x, and actually ended up at the same road I ran the first one. This one was even easier than the first one, he never even pulled from the beginning. I thought these cars were supposed to run high 11's low 12's at close to 120mph??

I will try and find a third one to race and confirm my findings.

My assumption is they are a little faster than a stock E55 or M5. Still with his HP, I would have expected him to pull me more on the top end in my little BMW 335i coupe.

Oddly enough we just had a new CTS-V run at Sac yesterday and a stock 55 destroyed it. Now the E55 had DR's and the CTS-V didn't so it wasn't really a fair race since the CTS-V wasn't able to put all it's power down. One thing I did notice is he was slower then a stock M5 on street tires, and we all know M5's are top end monsters not down low like the CTS-V. As far as E55's they out trap both stock on street tires, which they should they have the power down low. So I'm very curious too as to why the CTS-V with the low end TQ ran so slow. I think it's safe to say your trap speed goes up if you spin your tires off the line yet he averaged 113-117. His ET's were from what I saw mid 13s to low 14s, I remember in fact feeling bad for the guy running a 14.2@113. Either the car has some issue putting the power down or is just over rated from the factory, or has heat soak issues. Of course the street is different from a roll but clearly it wasn't doing as well as it could have in negative DA at Sac raceway yesterday IMO.

I still choose German over American, Germany isn't doing a fixed challenge to other car makers with professional drivers because it's sales are hurting now is it?

There was a brand new running at Sac yesterday and MikesAMG and Hammer said it was trapping 113-117 with a best of 12.7 but mostly in the 13's. I'm sure driver error plays a big role in his ET's just like it would on the streets. Basically you could be racing a car that runs 13-14's if the driver is inexperienced. With your times and traps you should be beating them.

I saw one go 11.3 at Atco with just pulley, tune, drag radial. It was an automatic one...which is much easier to launch then a manual one. Def a fast car...

Hotrod your 335i is a beast, I remember seeing your posts when I was thinking about buying one last year. I ended up going with the E55...

Thanks...I would imagine the CTS-V wouldn't beat my 9.34 second 60-130 time anyways, which would explain why I could reel him in.

I would think the CTS-V would beat a stock E55, but these tuned E55's are monsters though! (Except Allen's is an Alien car!)

Allen I do want to make it down to Sacramento again next month. Are they open year round? Should January be good to visit up there?

Good point the one at Sac was manual. He had his whole family there, I just think he lacked knowledge in how to drag race. I am curious to see one modded out, it's tempting to go buy one. I have sat in the driver seat before and I do like how they look black

Thanks, last time out at Sacramento in April was without my meth and DCI. I am about to installed downpipes as my exhaust and cats, etc, are fully stock now. So hopefully I will improve me traps significantly. Here is a 122.8mph run I did the other night. See the good acceleration at 130mph, which is where I really walked away from the CTS-V

You know what is interesting is that I looked on dragtimes to see some stock ones running around 120mph. Yet I saw one with a pulley and tune, and I think he was only trapping around 122mph.

You know, I wonder if those Supercharged 6.2L GMs are overrated. I am still trying to figure out why a ZR1 with 130more HP than a Z06 only traps 2-6mph faster than a Z06. It just doesn't make sense.
