Post >>>> 1/4 Mile Time Correction Thread <<<<

In an effort to compare runs from different tracks and locations all over the country, I figured it maybe beneficial to start a "Time Correction" thread where we correct people's runs to help them further understand their cars abilities to perform in different weather conditions, and hopefully they can use that information to run quicker/faster their next time out.

Before the flame war starts, let me just say that all the corrections that will be given here in this thread will simply be approximations at best. They are meant to give an insight view on how cars behave under varying density altitude (DA) and very different weather conditions. These numbers are not meant to be record runs or replace timeslips in any way, but rather as a tool for a better understanding of one's car.

If you're interested in correcting any of your timeslips, please post the timeslip and we will try to correct them as soon as possible. If you do not have your timeslip or can not scan it for whatever reason, then please post your:

1) ET and Trap Speeds
2) Location of the run (which track)
3) Date & Time of the run

I hope this helps you understand your car even better

Awesome thread Mo ! This will help people better understand why their cars can't run as quick or fast as someone else with identical mods at a different location. I'll start it off with my best run to date using smokemup.com calculations. I also think we should all agree on one site to do all the corrections to help eliminate varying factors.

I hope people understand that the corrected times will be used for their own personal knowledge and in no way a claim to a record. Most people will be correcting their times down (quicker) but some, not much, will be correcting up (slower) which is okay. I'm actually correcting my time up on my personal best run.

Let's please keep this civil and not criticize or call bs on other members. If people wish not to participate then don't.

Here's my slip with the correction factor:

The closest weather results for 12/05/2009 at 03:07 pm

Time recorded 2:53 PM
Temperature °F 55.9
Dew Point °F 25.0
Altimeter Setting 29.86 Inches Mercury
Absolute Pressure: 29.81 Inches
Density Altitude: -7.4 feet
Track Elelvation: 50 feet

UnCorrected ET:
10.776 (sec) @ 135.682 (MPH)

Corrected ET to Sea Level:

If I were you I would be much more proud of the possibility of your car running the 11.2's or even a high 11.1's for your mods. If traps are your main concern you try doing a 60-130 run to really see how you compare to other cars.

I think this will be an awesome thread and I'm hoping many people participate. I don't care what anyone says, DA plays a major role in how are cars perform on a given day. How else could you explain me going from 11.04 to 10.776 on the same track, same mods, with only cooler weather?

i agree totally with the DA factor .. have seen my car go from trapping 121 to 127 in good DA .

haters crazy
As Alan mentioned, all the runs should be corrected using the same method/place. Also, are you guys correcting as a NA car or FI? Dragtimes gives approximate DA for many tracks and also provides a highly modified FI correction factor

Smokemup.com has a feature called "auto lookup" and it doesn't give the option for highly modified, NA, or FI. Juicee and I have used smokemup to correct my times over the last few months and most have corrected within a couple of hundredths of a second if not less on the same track but and the only difference being weather. It's just for fun because a lot of guys think their cars are very slow when compared to some of our runs when in reality they're racing in DA well over 2-3k . It's all for fun and I hope people participate.

Here's a great example of how this correction factor could help people out. Mike has been struggling with his 60' times lately due to some issues he's having with his burnouts, and we all know how important these times are. Anyways, on 12-5 he ran a pb of 11.407 in negative DA....great run. Now back in August on a summer night Mike was launching his car much better without the issue that now plagues him. He ran 11.506 in much warmer weather which corrects down this time. His 11.506 actually corrected to be his better time, all though he didn't actually run the corrected time it still gives him info needed to see how he performed on that day with the conditions presented to him. To me this is very valuable information. Here are his corrected times.

thanks for the calculation, i forgot to check this thread till now.

anyways im surprised it died down, where are all the other people with their time slips?
anyone else have some negative DA runs to compare to?
id like to see how much that has an effect, my da was also in the -'ves so i guess i had good conditions that day, but i hope i still have some decent room for improvement on my times.
