"It's an awesome car, better overall than the last generation E63, and especially better than the old E55."
...yeah, but...but...but....it doesn't have forced induction and stuff, so it sucks!

Thanks for posting that video. Its nice to see yet another source confirming the significant handling improvements in the 2010 E63. It's good news for fans of the AMG E-Class that the breed continues to evolve and improve with each iteration.
For those who are ready for a new car, like the 2010 styling, and care a lot about handling, videos like this provide helpful data for them to use in making their purchase decision. For those who are not ready for a new car, do not like the styling, or do not care that much about handling, these videos may not interest them.
I am not sure about the 4341 pound curb weight that is quoted in that video. The test sheet from Car and Drivers test shows they measured a curb weight of 4167 pounds. Does anyone know the factory quote for weight? The C&D test sheet also showed a trap speed of 115.
(see http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...ef8ea98893.pdf )
I am confused by your reference to a "flappy paddle gearbox". If you are talking about the shift paddles, they seem to be the exactly the same as in the W211 E63, and there is nothing "flappy" about them.
The scenery looks pretty dry to me. I would guess So Cal, not NC.

While I am sure the move away from Airmatic has yielded better handling characteristics, the now staggering 4300lb curb weight and paultry 112mph trap speed weigh heavily against this car and I'm afraid having a flappy paddle gearbox isn't going to make up for it.

For the record, I like the new E63. Superior car to the W211 but I'm still drawn to the styling of the W211...

That's what I'm waiting for, better handling and greater (and more modable) power.
The one thing I'll miss though is the exhaust note of the 6.2

A Prius because I'm green
This car had the Pano roof, could explain the 4300 lbs not 41xx. It also looks like the track was Fontana and that track isn't a fast track, bring it to Sac next time to get the numbers we all want! ![rolf](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif)

Still would rather have my E55 any day as far as AMG goes, I am thinking of an E550 as a commuter since I can't find a nice used CLS 550.
Quick question for the experts to debate, does anyone think they will build a new tranny for the new 55k engine line up that's coming out? I have the 7speed on my other benz and it just seems like too many gears to go throw in the quarter mile and I'm curious can it handle as much torque as my 5 speed?

The 7-speed can NOT handle as much torque as the 5-speed tranny. The 5-speed is very tough that is also used in the V12 models including the black series, which output 738 ft-lbs of torque, which is also electronically limited to save the tranny
. I'm not sure how the MCT in the SL63 and the new E63 will handle in the power department though ![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)

The handling, performance, sound, tranny, etc. are all nice adds for the 2010 E63. Problem is, the price tag of over $100K, gasp. It is still easy to pick up a new '09 and save 30K, so why go for these slight improvements??
I suspect the pano roof is the cause of that ridiculous curb weight.
Nice video documenting the new ride; however, I wouldn't want to be the lucky buyer of this test vehicle....

+1 that's the reason I bought my '09. I prefer having the W211 E63 now at a huge discount and maybe getting a much improved W212 E63 with FI later on. And I'll be ready to choose between it and the new F10 M5.
