I would have never bet on him holding that in a million years. Is that clutch made of cheese? How the hell could he not just drop the clutch and jerk the guys arms off ESPECIALLY with awd? Second part made more sense. Just my intuition.
I suppose it's a different ball game when your strapped in like that and only have to keep it from moving. Static vs dynamic. But still that was interesting to say the least.

I suppose if you consider that he rolled into the clutch and the slack was already taken up and the guy was being held in place by a harness it seems possible. He only had to resist being moved out of place which would take a lot of pulling power. Still though. The thing even had slicks!

I'd be willing to bet it's not as hard as one would believe. Any "strong" guy on this site probably has a fighting chance of doing the same thing. As long as there is no slack in the line, the car has no initial momentum to jerk on the guys arms. If they just mash the gas, the tires go up in smoke; most of us can do that standing still in a parking lot as well.

They said there was a technical problem with the first car, and it wasn't because the guy somehow broke it. The second car was obviously RWD. The driver took out all of the slack and then dumped the clutch as quickly as possible to get the tires slipping immediately. Spinning tires produce much much less tractive force, slicks or not. Had the driver simply eased out on the clutch, even at close to idle speed, there is no way the guy could have held on. Still cool, but like bobgodd said, pretty much any somewhat strong guy should be able to do the same thing.
