Houston Pot Holes
Anyone had any luck with getting the city to pay for damage by pot holes? I'll upload pictures later.

Yeah, they have a process set-up which is a good sign. I have to get three estimates first though, which takes time. And then who knows how long it will take for them to respond. I know I'll end up just fixing it just to have it fixed in a decent amount of time. I was on Airport Blvd going to pick up a friend from Hobby, so I guess it's good I don't drive there daily. Just talking about it pisses me off!

Just purchased wheel and tire protection plan from Mercedes. It's something new that they have just started offering.
$700 for 5 years of coverage
I couldn't find many members who have given feedback

Mine was nearly $1,000 for 5 years through MB. Can be canceled for a refund at any time and also transferred to a different car. If you replace your wheels or tires the new ones are covered. Seems like a good exchange for a grand and given the cost of the wheels.

I hate driving in Houston...and to think it is my new home. The roads here have no winters to worsen their condition, no frost heave to worry about..not particularly expansive soils... Why is it one of the wealthiest and most affluent cities in the world has roads the same as a 3rd world country? I;m appaled and to think there are so many high end modified and lowered cars here.

Down town Seattle is a nightmare for pot holes. Everytime I drove my 911 I watch the road more than the peoples around me, feel like I'm on the track dodging pot holes and sudden stops.
btw, I didn't know the city pay for damaged wheels cause by pot holes?? Hmmm..if so they owe me alot of money

Yeah they want 3 estimates to fix it, pictures, and a notarized statement. So I'm going to take the pictures then fix it and send in the stuff to the city and see what develops. Maybe I get something out of it maybe not. I reported the pot hole so hopefully it won't happen to someone else.

Houston Pot Holes - Looking for contact with the city
Hi! Who is the City of Houston contact (for seeking reimbursement for my two-tire blowout from a 7ft W x 6ft L x 2ft D pothole on Eldridge near I-10. I have sent letters to the City Secretary and City Attorney with no luck. Any help is appreciated!
Also - regarding the $700 5-year protection plan... I am assuming this is only with the purchase of a new car or new tires? Is it possible to purchase this upon inspection of tires?
Thank you all!

Katrina - You need to contact the Public Works Department and actually if you went down to see them in person, they would more take you more seriously. City Attorney etc they do not give a rat's!
You will also need to take pictures, like showing the depth of the potholes with a tape measure or how uneven the road is with a level etc etc..something simple to show how awful the road is..no fancy shmancy Engineering stuff.
Check this link:
http://www.publicworks.houstontx.gov/
There are telephone numbers and an address for the Publci Works Division on the link
Sorry to hear about the grief, I know that section of Eldridge and it is absolutely KRAP! There is a thread 5+ pages (!) long on Houston-Imports talking about how awful the roads are.
Good luck.

I was told to take my stuff to the city secretary. I plan on doing it in person. They asked for 3 estimates, pictures, and a notarized statement. (sorry if I'm repeating myself). Here's some pics of my hole. All I had in the car to reference the depth with was a pet hair brush. It's actually much deeper than it seems in the pictures. It probably covered a 5ftx6ft area.
