E65 possible.

Anyone know of any w211 e55's fitted with a 65 series engine? Is it possible without redoing the firewall?
Would be a one hell of a sleeper.

Sorry if the title made it sound like an e65 was coming out.

I think Brabus? had showcased a MB 12-cylinder engine in the W211 before.

Yeah, they also want an arm and a leg.

The project is definitely doable with patience and of course a V12 motor....

I believe Brabus has shoehorned twin-turbo V12 engines into E, CLS, C and even GLK class vehicles.

it is possible. and it is probably easier then most think. the engine will fit, the mounts can be made or borrowed from other platforms that have both 55 and 65 engines. i would love to do something like that, but then you have the ECU, tc, the can-bus network etc to deal with.

I think the Brabus GLK v12 is something stupid like $500,000.

I mean yes, if you have enough money you can do almost anything...but at some point do it become excessive...

Although I would love to see an E55 w/ a 65 transplant.

Why don't you just try to turbocharge the E55? I think it'll be just as potent and probably a lot cheaper.

VW has a European-market vehicle that is both turbocharged and supercharged (apologies for the Popular Science link, but Google didn't pull up any fancy-pants car links )

Now available in Europe in the sporty Golf GT, Volkswagen's Twincharger system consists of a highly economical 1.4-liter direct-injection four-cylinder engine equipped with both a supercharger and a turbocharger. The supercharger, belt-driven off the crankshaft, compensates for the engine's small displacement by forcing air into the cylinders at low revs to bolster torque. As the tachometer climbs, an exhaust-gas-driven turbocharger further boosts the horsepower. The GT hits 62 mph in 7.9 seconds and goes on to 136 mph, while returning an impressive average of 39 mpg.
Imagine doing this with 5.5 liters instead of 1.4

Someone toss a turbo (or perhaps two?) on a 55K and let's see if you can get 39 mpg

My thought is to ditch the SC system all together. Build a sheet metal intake manifold, two turbo manifold, two 35R turbos, front mount air to air IC. That right there should be more than enough for most of us. Building stuff is the easy part, but I have no clue of any one can tune such set up. May have to resort to Motec or Fast stand alone ECU to tune. Gosh dang it, I'm gonna turn my family cruiser into a track car again!!

You can build a 1500whp Gallardo for much less than that.

If Benz didn't make these ()*&()&)in ECU's near impossible to ()&)*&()in mod, we'd all be having a field day with these engines.

I would totally be willing to take a whack at a turb system!

To bad to program these ECU's you gotta fight off the agents and make it to machine city. Programmer after programmer I have talked to says it's a nightmare to try to get all the programs in the matrix to play nice together.

I agree Jim. But I am sure if brabus does it it is doable, I mean come on, they stuffed the damn V12 in a W203 body...they stuff it in every damn mercedes!! I think its doable, just a matter of time before it happens.

E55, Supercharged Z4 (sold)
I would love to see what Undergroud Racing could do to these motors with a turbo. Even dual intercoolers open up the way for 700hp with the stock SC from what I've gathered.
