2011 M5 Specs Revealed....
"The 2011 BMW M5 saloon will have a 0-100 km/h time 0.3 seconds faster than the current model, according to Car Magazine. The car will receive a significant boost in power and torque, and a generous increase in efficiency.
Unfortunately, those who want a wagon variant will have to look elsewhere. No new BMW M5 Touring is planned for production at this time, according to the magazine.
Engineers at the German automaker achieved the faster time despite dumping the 5-liter V10-engine in favor of a 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8. Horsepower on the engine, already seen in the X5 M, bounces up to 578 hp, while torque is increased over the most recent M5 by 40% from 380 lft-lb to 531 ft-lb.
Even with better performance, the car will use an estimated 30% less fuel, while pumping out similarly reduced emissions, with final figures expected to be at a respectable 24 mpg. This was not only accomplished with weight management, but through the use of the company's Efficient Dynamics system. A kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), developed by the company's ex-F1 programme, may also make it to the final vhehicle.
If the 250 km/h (155 mph) speed limiter were removed, the car would top out around 303 km/h (188.3 mph). The 2011 BMW M5 should be introduced at the end of 2010, with market launch in the spring of 2011."

Sorry AMG, but its time to try out an M now!

Since the X5 M is running 21psi at full boost, I wonder how much room is left for aftermarket tuning?

That said, the third row seat can't be ordered in the X5 M version.

AMG finally has the handling issues ironed out and provided AMG matches the M in power on their TT's, this is truly gonna be epic!!!
Never forget Car and Driver already has the article written for the 2011 article.
"Strangely the AMG edged out on the M5 in the slalom, skid pad and clearly won in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 times, not to mention braking......we preferred the M ultimately though."
What I may buy is this new M5. I keep telling myself I won't as the current 5.0 is one of the greatest engines ever made but I drive past a BMW showroom most days so resisting the urge is going to be a battle and a half.

the killer combo will be the DCT gear box.. since the X5/X6 have average auto gear boxes.
I would still choose a new 550i sport and tune it and save the $$ or even a E5xx (which ever engine they add TT) and call it a day.
1) I can't afford and 2) I won't be able to find a place to drive the car 8/10 to 9/10th of its capabilities.
Maybe if I double my income in a few years (highly unlikely)
My E is a average handling car and a beast on the freeway.. and I hardly use its power. I feel like a mall cop with a M-16.. I have way too much power for what I need.
I don't drive crazy and look for trouble.. and I usually respect other cars.

Lets say, freeway 60 or 57 or 5 is always traffic..... sometimes its even hard to drive 70MPH ! why would I need something more than my E55 ??
Thats why I drive more S320 than E55 (try to keep it lower mileage)
Freeway = Traffic, City = Cops
