Mercedes Axes Award-Winning 6.2-Liter V8
It came as a shock when Mercedes announced it would eliminate AMG’s 6.2-liter V8 engine from the company’s lineup, particularly after it took home the hardware for the Best Performance Engine in 2009. Starting next year, the high-performance AMG division at Mercedes-Benz will begin to replace all 6.2-liter V8 engines with smaller, twin-turbo units. The replacement motor will be a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 that is expected to make just as much (if not more) power, but reduce fuel consumption significantly. This move follows in the footsteps of other automakers to move away from naturally aspirated motors, to forced induction ones. Interestingly, the 6.2-liter V8, the first ground-up engine built by AMG, only recently joined the company’s lineup after it ended a long run with the supercharged 5.5-liter V8.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious that this is the route all mfgs will be going.
It makes the "new" W212 a one-off now, I guess. Not just the last E63 with a 6.2 n/a, but the ONLY W212 E63 with a n/a 6.2. Are they going to sell many of them(?) I'd wait in general with any new model, but now there's really no reason to get one until the TTs arrive.

Nice, now the universe is back in ballance.
Too bad the new CLS looks god aweful... I'd be all over a current body CLS with a 5.5TT.
Now a SL55tt....

I would think they would put that engine in this body style CLS...
Just not my cup of tea.

they will use the 550 engine and modify it as what i heard.
but maybe thats not the AMG.
maybe it is just TT for more power and less co2
same as BMW
4.4 TT and 4.4TT but M power which gives more HP

WTF? It's not like the Hofmeister kink on the BMWs that's been there forever and actually is subtle and looks good.
The new MB head designer needs to go work for Acura or somebody. All the new MBs are looking weird, imho.

Um, I will have to admit that stretched limo E55 makes me eyes hurt. And there's the color correction issue. And then there's the parking lot issue. And then there's..... oh, never mind.
