Help me decide - should I trade my GTR for a 996TT modded?

Here's the 996TT I'm considering trading my GTR for (+cash):
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...-new-pics.html

Here's some info on my GTR:
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/a...awhp-sale.html

Which would you take, and why?
Since this is neither a Porsche board, nor a GTR board, I'm hoping for some good answers.

Unless he is giving you a nice amount of cash, I would keep the GTR. It's a newer car and the p car isn't even super fast or anything

I would only trade your GTR for a 997 TT with PDK... at that point, you will have to dish out money and car.

- I would not deal with that guy Mandeep in the first place. I bought wheels from him which he misrepresented by ALOT more then I had originally thought.

- P car has 50k miles on it and it's an 01, you are talking about trading a brand new car for an 8 year old car

- 996 doesn' match the performance of a GTR
- if i was to trade a GTR for a p car it would have to be a 997tt

Either way be very careful when dealing with that guy (uurfantasy) on the forums. He seemed like a good guy and I trusted him and wired him money ......which left me unprotected. Look for hidden issues

I would stick with the GTR. Where I'm at I see 996's and 997's, all different trims, just about everyday during my daily commute. GTRs are a rare siting, maybe once a month. If not for anything else, keep the GTR for it's sheer exclusivity. That and the Porsche is an '01.

Keep the GTR! I bet when you get close up to that parts car it looks like crap. All that add on crap is probally all shotty looking up close. Like prodigymb said, if he misrepresented wheels I am sure the car is as well. Not to mention all that painted interior crap looke cheezy. They only came with a painted center console and radio surround so you know the vents are all second hand paint jobs. I think you will be very sorry. Keep us posted.

Look at the picture of the front left wheel well...the plastic at the bottom is pulling back. Look at the deck lid....does not even look like it matches up well at the front near the rear window. The close up of the front looks like the bottom of the front end is all hacke up from curbs and what not. The close up of the gear shifter is all scratched to hell. This is all just from pictures which hide alot of crap. FAIL!

Everyone loves a P car... The driver feedback is phenomenal. Have you driven one yet? The 996TT is fun, and with some mods like gt3 sways and coilovers, its quite impressive. I owned an 01 with mild mods and it was definitely a fun car. Have yet to drive a GTR-

His pictures hid stuff when I bought wheels from him too.

Not to mention that car is NOT worth 55,000$.

Hell to the NO. The 996tt is a great car and very capable. But, it pales in comparison to the 997tt.

GTR > 996tt

997tt > GTR (clearly)

That kit is ugly, the car is 8 years old and definitely not worth $55k, keep the GTR.

On that note, if it had been a 997TT like Peter's, I would say go for it.

55k is too much for that 996TT. You could find a stock one with less miles owned by a PCA member doctor/lawyer type owner in better condition for less. And maybe just keep the GTR, too.

Or sell the GTR and add some cash and get a mildly used 997TT or GT3.

I'm curious what your thoughts on your GTR have been over 12k miles.

When in question, I tend to go for the newer car with newer technology. A 2001 996TT vs a 2009 GTR, there's not even a millisecond of thought required. GTR all the way, unless you have negative experiences that would make you think otherwise.

You go through high end cars faster than I go through underwear, btw Is there a C.A. cars anonymous for mr. fantasm?

Unless it a 997TT I would keep the GTR. That's alot of money for a 2001 without X50. 01 no warranty..09 full factory warranty..humm that a no brainer decision

+1 Find at least an 03 P50 car. Not that ragged out 01 kit car.

Read the links he has in Post #1, he describes the GTR in detail.

I would definitely keep the GTR. I don't understand the attraction to the Porsche. If new car fever is taking over again, look at the Audi R8 V10, awesome.

From the pics, it also looks like the paint on the bodykit isn't the right shade of silver for the car.

Keep the GTR.

Isn't it all about the "Tang"?
That hot blonde isn't going to give a Nissan a second look, but she'll stare down the playa in a Porsche. Go for the German Rig. Not that one, but a different one.
